MY PRAYER FOR ROSH HASHONAH - 5770
by Bernard J. Shapiro Author Note: Each year for the past many years, I have re-issued this prayer. Unfortunately my prayers don't seem to be answered. I know they are the prayers of many of my readers also. What to do? My rage and anger at the situation we face has grown this last year, especially with the election of an anti-Israel American President. This prayer is hopeful. It also demonstrates my mixed state of rage and hope. I think that all Lovers of Zion have similar feelings......Please read and MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS YEAR, 5770.....Bernard] MY PRAYER FOR ROSH HASHONAH - 5770 By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 11, 2009 As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits. Are American Jews the Most Foolish Voters in the United States ? II
by Ron Lipsman University of Maryland Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 1, 2009 Recently, I wrote an article for the Maccabean Online (http://www.freeman.org/MOL/pages/july2009/are-american-jews-the-most-foolish-voters-in-the-united-states.php) in which I made the case that the sustained allegiance of Jewish Americans to liberal candidates and causes ran contrary to the fundamental interests of the Jewish community and its voters. My argument centered on three themes—or touchstone issues as I called them—around which Jews often base their decision on who shall receive their ballot. Those themes were: · The security and well-being of the State of Israel and its Jewish population. · The security and well-being of the American Jewish community. · The fundamental purpose of the Jewish people's continued existence, especially in America . I demonstrated that, corresponding to every one of the three themes, liberal politicians were pursuing policies that were completely inimical to the interests of the American Jewish community. Just to cite a representative example from the article: Jews fervently support diversity programs promoted by liberals—programs that have had the direct and documented effect of denying seats in medical and law schools to qualified Jewish applicants. Numerous such absurdities were highlighted in the article, which closed by posing the question "why?" Why, indeed, do Jewish Americans continue to be the second most reliable voting bloc for liberal Democrats, despite the fact that the liberal Democrats the Jews help to install in power routinely promote measures that are completely contrary to the interests of their Jewish supporters? I will attempt an answer in this article. Continue reading "Are American Jews the Most Foolish Voters in the United States ? II"

A TROJAN HORSE
David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 26, 2009 "These Arab residents [of the lands of the Mandate of Palestine] are hardly a minority since they are part of the Arab ummah, the Arab people, more than 250 million strong, that are determined to rid the Middle East of a non Muslim nation like Israel, a kind of Trojan Horse behind Israeli lines to achieve that which the legendary one achieved." "The logic and reality of the situation is that the only force for peace in the Israeli region is the strength of Israel that discourages Arab adventurism...." The letters today in the Wall Street Journal (8.26.09) commenting on Sam Bahour's earlier article (8.26.09) scarcely do justice to the issues these letters raise. 1929-2009 Of the Jewish Orphanings from Family and Country
"Of the Jewish Orphanings from Family and Country" by Evelyn Hayes Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 6, 2009 Today I met an orphan of the 1929 massacre of Jews in Jerusalem because of a blood libel. Shmuel Tsefania survived the massacre under his dead mother's body. He survived the Friday mutilations and massacre in the Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem called Nissan Bak, across from Meah Shearim, near the Damascus gate. When the Jews came to bury their dead on Friday, the bodies were un-identifiable. The burial was postponed until Saturday evening. The sound of a baby's cry came from below the dead. That baby is now 81. His tale is the tale of Jewish rights and reality that needs rectification for the dead and for the living. We heard his story and said kaddish in front of the mass grave at the Mount of Olives Cemetery. From a loving established family, left was a Jewish orphan. Not only was he orphaned, but the neighborhood of Batei Nissan lost most of its Jews in 1929 and all of its Jews by the Jordanian invasion and occupation in 1948. The neighborhood was established by a printer from Tsefat. He also put up a shul, the tallest in the Old City which housed 58 shuls which the Jordanians destroyed. It was called Batei Eshel Avraham. The parking lot outside this neighborhood where we parked today was all Jewish houses that were homes to 200 families. Jews were killed. An orphan survived. The neighborhood was almost Judenrid because of the pogroms that killed about 133 Jews. The dead of Nissan Bak are buried in a mass grave in the Mount of Olives Cemetery. We visited the dead again 80 years later. Are American Jews the Most Foolish Voters in the United States?
By Ron Lipsman Freeman Center For Strategic Studies July 19, 2009 Despite its ludicrous tone, the question posed in the title is a legitimate one. With the exception of American blacks, Jews continue to comprise the most reliable voting block for liberal Democrats in the United States. They vote overwhelmingly in that direction in virtually all gubernatorial, congressional and presidential elections. Obama obtained more than 80% of the Jewish vote, not uncharacteristic of the percentage of Jews who have cast their ballots for Democratic presidential candidates since Franklin Roosevelt. Reagan was an exception, but he only obtained roughly 40% of the Jewish vote. No other Republican since has come close to that number I maintain that the massive, ongoing, enthusiastic and predictable Jewish vote for liberal Democrats is an example of one of the most foolish voting records by any ethnic group in the history of the American republic. The black vote along the same lines is self-destructive and foolish, but there are some bona fide explanations—especially in the last election. On the other hand, as I will show in this article, the sustained allegiance by American Jews to the Left is not only self-destructive and foolish, it is also short-sighted, naïve, ineffective, harmful and ultimately inexcusable. SETTLEMENTS: A JEWISH RIGHT
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies June 18, 2009 Jews being an ethical people strongly driven by ethical considerations, it is imperative that Jews and their supporters have the facts about their right to the land of Israel. The Jews do not hold other people's lands and happen to have full rights to build communities on the lands of the Mandate. This is made clear in the presentation below by Professor Eliav Shochetman of Hebrew University, written in 1999 with quotations from the findings of persons like Professor Eugene Rostow. As is explained, leaving aside the Divine allocation of the land to the Jews, it was the determination of the 52 nations of the League of Nations, based on their historic considerations, that the lands of the Mandate of Palestine are to be set aside for a homeland for the Jewish people. The Mandate specifically gives the Jewish people the continuing right to "unlimited close settlement" of its lands -- the word "settlement" here is not a dirty word but the very right given in the Mandate to the activity of building a Jewish homeland. SIMPLE RULES FOR CREATING A GIANT WAVE OF ALIYA TO ISRAEL
By Bernard J. Shapiro (Revised from original editorial of August 2004) Freeman Center For Strategic Studies June 1, 2009 1. Crush terrorism and pre-empt all existential threats to the State of Israel. Why move to a country unable to protect its Jewish population? 2. Annex all state lands within the borders of Israel (post 1967). Annex all property stolen from the Jewish People during the last 2000 years, including Church and Waqf property (exceptions, of course for Holy Places. The term Holy Places does not include fraudulent claims of Muslims to Jewish or Christian Holy Places.). Remove all illegal Arab buildings and farms. 3. Require all voting citizens of Israel to do military or community service for 3 years (including Arabs). The right to vote and be a citizen will depend such service + a loyalty oath to the Jewish State. 4. Re-affirm that Israel is a Jewish State and NOT a democratic (one man one vote) state of all its citizens. The loyal citizens of Israel whether Jewish, Christian, Bedouin, Druze, or Arab will have equal rights. 5. Adopt Prof. Paul Eidelberg's constitution with constituency elections. 6. Open up Judea & Samaria for massive building, thus creating giant suburbs close to the heavily populated Israeli coastline. A system of toll roads, and light rail will connect these suburbs to the coast from Ashdod to Nahariya. This will solve the over population along Israel's coast and create a better quality of living for all Israelis. 7. Anyone in Israel who raises up a rock to crush Jewish skulls, or a knife, gun or bomb to kill Jews should be expelled from Eretz Yisrael. Those not loyal to the State of Israel as a Jewish State and wish to replace it with an Arab/Muslim country, should lose all citizenship rights and be encouraged to leave. If they incite hatred and anti-Jewish feelings, they should be expelled. A final thought: It took Jews 2000 years to regain Eretz Yisrael. We should most emphatically not allow the world who wished us dead to influence our decisions on how we should LIVE. Bernard J. Shapiro is the Chairman of the Freeman Center For Strategic Studies www.freeman.org and the editor of its publications. Tuesday, May 12. 2009ADVICE TO PM NETANAYHU BEFORE HIS ENCOUNTER WITH OBAMA
ADVICE TO PM NETANAYHU BEFORE HIS ENCOUNTER WITH OBAMA
by Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies May 12, 2009 Like most of us, who are concerned with the survival and security of Israel, I am concerned. There are so many forces bent on our destruction, that a true Zionist hardly knows where to turn, much less what to do. I have been thinking about it for many many months, even years. Below are the simple thoughts of a frustrated Zionist. TO NETANYHU – WHEN YOU MEET OBAMA 1. Tell him that he is now president of a great country that Israelis have always loved. He should do his best not to destroy it by turning it into a third-world Socialist non-democratic nation. 2. Please remind him that Israel is a sovereign Jewish nation and will not take orders from either him, the UN, EU, NATO, or the Arab dictators. Let him understand that when his people (white, black and Muslim) were still barbarians the Jewish People had already built a great civilization based on Justice and Monotheism. 3. Explain to him that there can be no peace treaty with Muslims, because they do not keep treaties. Israel is too smart to sign another peace of paper for a fake peace. For 16 years, Israeli leaders have pissed away territory, security and deterrence for NOTHING. We have had enough. 4. There have been a long line of officials in the US State Department and CIA, who have worked hard to damage Israel’s ability to survive in its very hostile neighborhood. Time after time, they pull Israel back from total victory over its enemies. Those days are gone forever. 5. We are sick and tired of your Justice system targeting good Jews like Jonathan Pollard for exceptional anti-Semitic treatment. I say to you with full authority and intent that we will capture and try every CIA agent in Israel unless Pollard is released within 10 days. Enough is enough. STOP AHMADINEJAD’S PLANNED NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST
by Emanuel A. Winston, Freeman Center Middle East Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies March 14, 2009 We have just heard President Barack Obama plead with the Mullahs of Iran to "just dialogue with us and we Americans will "kiss" you with so much respect that all will be forgiven". Perhaps Obama with his extraordinary lack of experience and plentiful naivete has overlooked Europe’s kissing up to Iran for more than 30 years. Nevertheless, the U.S. cannot allow the Mullahs to control the Gulf Oil States and the Saudi oil fields. Arabists in the Washington loop, including the State Department, many of the 16 U.S. Intelligence Agencies, such as the advisory NIC (National Intelligence Council) , ‘et al’ do not wish to tweak Islam’s nose by having the U.S. strike Iran’s nuclear infrastructure first. To view the sites where Iran has scattered its various nuclear R&D plants, see the map in the August 2008 National Geographic Magazine which shows these sites in plain view. Knowing that Israel will be one of the Mullahs first targets, according to the frequent proclamations of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, all of the above assumes that Israel will be forced into a live-or-die strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities. THE ARAB ADVANTAGE
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies March 13, 2009 "The Arabs remain greatly advantaged because Israel will not use her power to gain victory over her enemies,... keeping Israel at perpetual war with the Arab enemy, which ... puts the US in the Middle between Israel and an Arab world that the US wants to have a friendly relationship with.... something a good ally should never do." In Israel's struggle for existence, the Arabs have a great advantage: The Arabs know full well that they want to destroy Israel, root and branch, but Israel's ruling elites refuse to recognize this. As a result, Israel's elites constantly make diplomatic concessions and show restraint in order not to forgo an imagined possibility of living in peace with the implacable Arabs -- concessions that gravely weaken Israel. The situation truly resembles lambs bargaining with jackals and offering all kinds of thoughtful goodies to get the jackals to not seize them by the throat. Such peaceful offers, of course, avail not in the nature of the case -- the case of Israeli lamb bargaining with the Arab jackal. Continue reading "THE ARAB ADVANTAGE"

by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic StudiesMarch 3, 2009 "Elliott Abrams in a recent article shows himself a star graduate of the Bernard Madoff Confidence Man School... ready to deliver his Jewish paisanos into support for the Obama policy of Arab appeasement and Israeli surrender...." "The reality is ... the Arabs do not have willing peace to give Israel; they must be coerced to do so just as the Nazis were coerced...." "Is the relocation of Arabs or other populations that are a threat to peace extremist solutions unheard of in history?" Elliott Abrams in the March 2 issue of The Weakly Standard -- "THE PATH OF REALISM OR THE PATH OF FAILURE: Laying a foundation for peace in Palestine" -- pushes for what is actually a policy of Israeli surrender. The so-called realistic path he urges on Israel is to continue Bush's original 2002 policy to establish a Palestinian state on Israel's lands. When Bush surprisingly announced that policy, he also slandered Israel as the "occupier" of lands that allegedly belong to a mythical "Palestinian people." This was a "people" unknown prior to 1967 and unmentioned in UN Resolution 242 in that year and whose fraudulent claims on Israel's lands Bush would have Israel honor. In fact, these are very lands that were set aside as a homeland for the Jewish people by the League of Nations in their Mandate of Palestine. War Crimes Charges Grow, Jerusalem Silent by Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies February 27, 2009 FOR THE SAKE OF ISRAEL WE MUST DRAFT THE FREEMAN CENTER TO HANDLE PUBLIC RELATION FOR THE JEWISH STATE. THE FOREIGN MINISTRY HAS CAUSED GREAT DAMAGE TO THE GOOD NAME OF ISRAEL. I WOULD AGREE TO LET THE OFFICE WORKERS THERE CONTINUE TO TAKE CARE OF VISAS AND TOURISM (LIVNI LOVED TO SHOW ISRAEL, NOT AS LAND OF THE BIBLE, BUT AS SEXY BIKINI CLAD ISRAELI GIRLS). THE FREEMAN CENTER CAN DO THE FOLLOWING: 1. Put up a vigorous Zionist defense of Israel at one tenth of one percent (0.01) the cost of the entire Israeli Foreign Ministry. 2. And they can do it with NO guilt feelings 3. They can do this with NO apologies to the World, USA, EU, Arabs, Muslims, UN for breathing the oxygen of Planet Earth. And, of course, being the only indigenous people living in its natural HOME, With the deed signed by the Almighty as a perpetual trust. 4. How do I know the Freeman Center can do all of above??? It is simple, we have been doing it since 1992. The RECORD is there. Go to www.freeman.org and see over 70,000 pages of the best news and commentary on Israel in THE MACCABEAN ONLINE www.freeman.org/online.htm During this same period, the Israel Foreign Ministry devoted all of its resources to: a. Promoting the "tooth fairy" of Peace with Barbarians who want to destroy us. b. Undermining organization like the Freeman Center and myself personally who defended Israel's undiminished right to self-defense, security and survival in the dangerous world we find ourselves. c. Helping to tie the hands of the IDF and endangering the lives of our most precious commodity (our sons and daughters) to save the lives of Arabs, who wish us dead. They have accepted and defended the concept of restraint (havlagah) or "purity of arms." There is nothing pure or sacred about sacrificing Jewish blood on the ALTER of Left-wing pseudo-morality. Our enemies worship death -so help them achieve it. We believe in life - so let us save our own. Please see articles below Still a frustrated Zionist, after all these years--- Who still loves Israel and prays to HaShem that REALITY begin to be a guiding principle of Israeli policy. NOTES TO BIBI AFTER HIS FIRST ELECTION - STILL IMPORTANT
by BERNARD J. SHAPIRO Freeman Center For Strategic Studies ====== An Editorial from THE MACCABEAN June 1997 A CALL TO ACTION We Must Return To Zionism By Bernard J. Shapiro In 1897 in Basle, Switzerland, Theodore Herzl founded the World Zionist Organization. There were great accomplishments in the last 100 years. Much has happened to the Jewish people who found themselves on a roller coaster with many traumatic ups and downs. The Holocaust was the lowest point and the establishment of Israel was a high point. There was the great victory of 1967 and the trauma of 1973. Zionism flourished, Israel prospered, Judea, Samaria and Gaza were settled. The Ethiopian return to Zion brought tears to our eyes with pride. The great Russian migration to Israel literally changed the country for ever. And then a cataclysmic and horrific event took place. A small clique of charlatans, with anti-Zionist delusions, took over the Israeli government in 1992. They deceived the Israeli voters by placing ("Mr. Security") Yitzhak Rabin at the head of their ticket. They promised security and then proceeded to dismantle the Jewish State. 100 years of Zionism are being undone in a few years. The new Likud government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not seem to have the political will to undo the damage of Oslo. In the past few years, it seems that the main effort of Israeli governments was the creation of a Palestinian state. The word peace was perverted and distorted, coming to mean surrender and appeasement. THE VATICAN AND ISRAEL
Diplomatic Relations, Recognition & Reparations By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies May 1992 As most Jews are preparing to celebrate Israel's 44th year of independence, the Vatican is embroiled in a weighty discussion of whether to recognize the Jewish State. Most of us who have followed this issue over many years placed most of the blame for lack of relations on the Vatican's fear of offending the Arabs who have substantial Christian minorities in their countries. During Israel's early years, the official Vatican excuse for not establishing relations was Israel's refusal to internationalize Jerusalem. That was a part of the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan the was rejected by the Arab states. The Jordanians who controlled the Christian Holy Places in Jerusalem during that time period also rejected internationalization. In modern times, the Vatican has recognized the impossibility of turning the clock back on Jerusalem, and now insists on a resolution of the Palestinian conflict before establishing relations. Dr. Michael Kaniel, writing in the Jerusalem Post (April 25, 1992), analyzes the religious origins of the Vatican's anti-Israel policies. He shows how the real reason the Vatican has withheld formal recognition is because the Jewish State represents a vexing contradiction to Catholic theology. When Theodor Herzl met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Merry del Val to request support of the Zionist movement on January 22, 1904, the cardinal said: "as long as the Jews deny the divinity of Christ...how can we agree to their regaining possession of the Holy Land?...They should first have to accept conversion." Three days later Pope Pius X told Herzl: "the Jews have not recognized our Lord; therefore we can not recognize the Jewish people." MORE ACCURACY AND DEPTH NEEDED
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies February 8, 2009 "Were England, France, and the U.S. racist in their policy of having relocated 12 million ethnic Germans to Germany after World War II ?" Charles Levinson's article (Wall Street Journal 2.6.09) reporting on developments in Israeli elections concerning the candidacy of Avigdor Lieberman could use more accuracy and depth. Unlike Levninson's report that Lieberman's views are like the views of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, they are different in important respects. Lieberman would redraw Israel's boundaries to exclude Arab-Israeli populations and, in land trades, would expel Jews from the territories the way it was done in Gaza. But this would only create Jewish refugees and enable the Arab enemy to transform Israel's eastern territories into Gaza platforms for rocketing Israel's nearby cities. Lieberman's is hardly a right wing program, any more than are the programs of Kadima and Labor, which parties would likewise surrender Israel to the Arab enemy with only variations in detail. On the other hand, Rabbi Kahane recognized early the since proven implacable nature of the Arab enemy and advocated their relocation while retaining the strategic Jewish territories that Lieberman and the leftist parties would surrender. Rabbi Kahane's approach would strengthen Israel for survival in the long run while Lieberman's bombastic program, damaging to Israel's interest, does not grapple with the Arab threat and would leave Israel worse off. HASBARA AND REALITY
by Bernard J. Shapiro Jewish Herald-Voice (Houston) June 1993 THE JERUSALEM POST reported last month on plans at the Israeli Foreign Ministry to abolish its "hasbara" or information efforts. It reported, "The decision to abolish hasbara is in keeping with Foreign Minister Shimon Peres' view that 'if you have good policy, you do not need hasbara. And if you have bad policy, hasbara will not help.'" Those of us who have been in the trenches, fighting Arab propaganda for years, were stunned by this policy change. Most of all, we were stunned by this apparently incorrect perception of reality. The propaganda battlefield, from which the Foreign Ministry seems eager to withdraw, is a surreal Kafkaesque landscape filled with the evil utterances of that unholy alliance of Arabs and anti-Semites. Their propaganda targets the Jewish community in America as well as Israel for a one simple reason: Anything that weakens the Jewish community and reduces their status in America ultimately limits the ability of Jews to aid Israel politically and financially. George Orwell would be quite at home with the "newspeak" of the "politically correct" bigots. Language, history, and religion become a twisted mass of bizarre concepts such as Zionism = racism. YALE LECTURE ON ISRAEL
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies January 22, 2009 On 1.22.09, I attended a lecture at the Yale Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (YIISA) and had the privilege of hearing a real live Israeli news correspondent give his views of the situation of Gaza, the history leading up to it, and the likely Israeli reaction at the polls in February. The speaker concluded that most probably Netanyahu will come to power, but opined that he is not far from Livni in his views. The speaker, a fine looking young man, stressed how close in views the so-called left of Israel is from the so-called right, how it was that supposedly right wingers in office have been the ones that put into orbit many of the programs advocated by the left, including the many so-called peace processes, as though these failed programs were the ones that had been most right. The speaker stressed that Israel seeks peace with the Arabs and that he believed that eventually there will be peace. Continue reading "YALE LECTURE ON ISRAEL"

THE GAZA STRIP-TEASE
by Irwin N. Graulich Freeman Center For Strategic Studies January 11, 2009 Let's strip this fight down to the actual bare facts. You elect a Nazi-like terrorist government, (and I use the comparison precisely), whose primary goal and charter is the destruction of the state of Israel. They create schools where textbooks expound on the concept of Jews and Christians being monkeys and enemies of Islam who must be destroyed. They establish summer camps that teach 7 year olds the virtues of becoming suicide bombers, actually constructing a sample vest model complete with dynamite sticks, in arts & crafts. They continue to publicly describe Jews on radio, tv and newspapers as something lower than vermin, all of whom must be exterminated. They spend all their time building tunnels and smuggling weapons to kill innocent civilians in Israel, instead of building businesses and a better life. They fire rockets regularly into Israeli towns and cities to goad Israel into a short-lived response that ultimately becomes a pr coup. They have weekly parades attended by upwards of 100,000 people screaming, "We will destroy the Zionist criminal pigs," and much worse. THE COSMETIC NON-SOLUTION TO GAZA
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies January 2, 2009 Herb Keinon's RECENT Jerusalem Post article analyzing the leftist Israeli government tactics in Gaza was not very assuring. True, Keinon told of this government's desire to degrade, discredit, and remove Hamas from power in Gaza. But what Keinon doesn't discuss is what this government intends afterward. This leftist government wants to eliminate Hamas so it can surrender the area to Abbas's Fatah group and then proceed to surrender Israel's Eastern territories to them for a Palestinian Arab state. What this government wants is a cosmetic, inconclusive settlement that superficially looks good so that it can pose as the savior of Israel and win the next election. Many rightly suspect that there is a great deal of collusion going on in the background with Israel, the Arabs, and with the US to make this happen. HALF SOLUTIONS DON'T HELP ISRAEL
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies December 31, 2008 I lose all confidence in Israel when I hear Israeli Ambassador Gillerman on Fox and Friends this morning saying, when asked what the solution to Gaza is, says, "It is for Hamas to decide not to shoot rockets at Israel." Clearly, he misreads the Arab enemy's mind. They will not willingly agree to stop shooting rockets and Israel has to compel them not to. This is the situation Israel faces with all its Arab adversaries. They won't agree to stop destroying Israel since they believe they have a religious duty to wipe Israel out. The solution for Israel's attaining peace is to compel the Arabs to live in peace. That means defeating them by taking the battle to their land holdings and permanently holding the territory. But won't that make it necessary for Israel to directly control Arab population? Not at all since Israel's military drive should push out the Arab population with its Arab armies, leveling the Arab cities behind. WILL ISRAEL FALL FOR THE
MUBARAK GAMBIT ON THE GOLAN? By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies December 19, 2008 [This article was originally witten in 1994 and since revised) The word has gone forth from Jerusalem. Now there is no doubt, despite a multitude of denials. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin (and now there is talk that Netanyahu might be interested in a deal.) has already agreed to surrender the whole Golan Heights to Syrian dictator Hafez Assad. It took months of couching, but finally Syrian dictator Hafez Assad has learned to say the word "peace." Does he mean it? The United State's State Department has announced that once peace is made with Syria, then 18 other Arab countries will make peace with Israel. The pressure to accept a withdrawal will be immense. Golan residents are beginning massive resistance, including hunger strikes and demonstrations. Labor MK Avigdor Kahalani is organizing a faction in the Knesset to resist withdrawal from the Golan. He has tabled a bill to raise the vote necessary for approval of territorial change from a simple majority (61) to 70 Knesset members. The time has come to clear the smoke and mirrors. There is a significant Israeli dilemma in the negotiating framework with Syria. I call this dilemma: the "Mubarak gambit." After Egyptian dictator Anwar Sadat's death, his successor Hosni Mubarak discovered that Egypt could ignore its peace treaty obligations to Israel with impunity. Sadat had signed over 50 agreements and amendments to the Camp David Accords, which spelled out in great detail normalization of relations with Israel. These included trade, tourism, science, cultural and other attributes of peaceful relations. The late Menachem Begin, of blessed memory, fully believed that his sacrifice of Sinai, with its air bases and oil, was worth the inauguration of peaceful relations with the most important country in the Arab world. Let Us Be Like Maccabees By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies December 17, 2008 The year is 70 C.E. and a young Roman legionnaire stands on a hill overlooking Jerusalem. While he watches it burn, he says to his comrades in Latin, "Judea Capta Est" (Judea is conquered).Yet like the legendary phoenix, rising from the ashes of its own destruction, Israel burst onto the world's stage 2000 years later, with the cry of a lusty infant yearning to breathe free. Five Arab armies tried to destroy that new life before it could take hold. With blood and fire, including the sacrifice of one per cent of its population (6000 of its best young people), besieged Israel secured its independence. Just nine short years earlier, European Jewry faced its most devastating experience, the Holocaust. In the areas under Nazi occupation, the Jewish death rate was 90%. Despite revolts in dozens of camps, and heroic resistance with the partisans of free Europe, the Jews were unorganized, unarmed and ultimately became victims. During both the Holocaust and Israel's War of Independence, the world and its leaders were indifferent, if not hostile, to the fate of the Jews. Jews in their own land, with their G-d, have great power, much more than the sum of arms and men. During Chanukah we should recall the legacy of the Maccabees. Remember how two "Hellenized Jews," Jason and Menelaus tried to destroy Judaism and force assimilation on the Jewish population. For generations we have taught our children about the evil Antiochus and his attempt to suppress the Jews. In reality, there were traitors among our own people who led the way for Antiochus. A New Plan for Jerusalem's Old City
By Moshe Phillips Freeman Center For Strategic Studies December 4, 2008 Jerusalem's Old City is the holiest part of Judaism's holiest city. What we now call the "Old City" is what the Bible means when it refers to Jerusalem. There should be little doubt that the new Obama/Clinton policy for Israel will include pressure on Israel to negotiate away Israel's full control of the Old City and other parts of Jerusalem. Benjamin Netanyahu now has the opportunity to, as he has so often put it in the past: "change the facts on the ground". Netanyahu is projected to bring Likud electoral victory. But what new ideas is he advancing? Netanyahu should announce now, before the Knesset election, that the next Likud led government will relocate the Prime Minister's Office and the Prime Minister's official residence to Jerusalem's Old City and it will begin the process upon the first day he takes office. Support for such a dynamic move would come from Jews the world over and other friends of Israel. It could also lead to more pressure being put on the Obama Administration to move America's Embassy. In a 1996 letter the late Senator Jesse Helms wrote to a Jerusalem based policy group that "I look forward to working with you … to encourage all nations to move their embassies to Jerusalem, and to recognize that Holy City as Israel's eternal capital." TRUTH ABOUT THE HOUSE OF PEACE (HEBRON) THE LEFT DESTROYS
By Avi Dobuler Freeman Center For Strategic Studies December 4, 2008 This is the story, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. A few years ago our Moslem Arab cousins/peace partners in the dark attacked worshippers returning Saturday night/motsay Shabbat from prayers at the Cave of the Patriarchs. Funds had been allocated to to develop the connecting path with among other things better lighting, etc, but the intention hadn't been implimented. After the devastating attack with its murder & maiming of Jews including the highest ranking soldier Brigade commander, Colonel Dror Weinberg- may G-d avenge his and their blood, the settlers wanted to put up houses along the path in an empty field to better provide security in the area. The Jews set up the beginnings of a "maachaz" tents as a prelude to building. The government protested promising the protection of its citizens by putting up a guarded watchtower. After shiva, the 7 days of morning, for all intensive purposes, the tower, while remaining is usually vacant - all show- but no substance. COUNTLESS JEWS ARE APPALLED AND DUMBFOUNDED - A SOLUTION
An Untried Policy (1995 updated) Prof . Paul Eidelberg FREMAN CENTER FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES November 23, 2008 Countless Jews are appalled or dumbfounded . They cannot understand how a Jewish government, backed the Israel Defense Forces, could give away Judea and Samaria , the sacred heartland of the Jewish people to terrorist thugs . The Prophets and Sages of Israel predicted that, in the end of days, the Jews would have such a government . They foresaw that Israel would be ruled by “scorners” of the Torah . These scorners, said the Prophet Hosea (12:1-3), will fill Israel with lies and deception . They will strive after wind (“peace”) and make alliances with Israel ’s enemies . The Prophet Isaiah (28:14-18) chastises these insolent Jews . He foretells that they will make a “covenant with death,” but that this pact will not protect them, indeed, that they will be swept away like refuse . Remarkably, the Targum translates this pact with death as a contract with “terrorists” (mechablim)! Continue reading "COUNTLESS JEWS ARE APPALLED AND DUMBFOUNDED - A SOLUTION"

THE GOVERNMENT OF ISRAEL HAS OVERTHROWN ITSELF
THE GOVERNMENT OF ISRAEL HAS OVERTHROWN ITSELF
by Emanuel A. Winston, Freeman Center Middle East Analyst & Commentator November 23, 2008 Through incitement and provocation, the present Government of Israel has deliberately incited part of her population to revolt. At the same time, this non-Government has incited another part of the Israeli population to hate and attack those citizens being dispossessed of their rights, property - civilians who have had their lives put in great danger. Whatever mandate this government thinks it may have had to rule, based upon pre-election promises has been squandered away with a cold and calculating policy of "Dispossession". This exceedingly corrupt assemblage of politicians within the Kadima Party have made a mockery of any law or rights of her citizens. They have corrupted an already biased Court system. They have exercised control and influenced the office of Israel’s Attorney General and have enlisted officers of the both the Army and the Police to attack and dispossess her citizens of their rights and property. No Repentance from Vatican
by Steven Shamrak October 23, 2008 Plus THE VATICAN AND ISRAEL by Bernard J. Shapiro (1992) Freeman Center For Strategic Studies Not long ago, a spokesperson for Pope Benedict XVI said that the Pope would not visit Israel until a caption attached to a photo hanging in Yad Vashem of Pope Pius XII, who reigned during the Holocaust era, was removed. The caption states that Pius XII "abstained from signing the Allied declaration condemning the extermination of the Jews" and "maintained his neutral position throughout the war". Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, stands by the description and affirms that it has ensured that the presentation of the subject in the Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem is based on the best research regarding this topic. Millions of Christians also died during WW2 including priests and nuns, but Pope Pius XII did not protest! The Church did not protest about the genocide of the Roma people or the Nazi hunt for the members of the 'wicked' Christian denominations. The Vatican claims that Pius worked "secretly and silently". We must be direct and honest about it: Yes, he was silent! Some assert that the Vatican was actively involved in saving up to 860,000 Jews by establishing an escape network in some countries. Even if this is true, they disregard the fact that by speaking out against Nazi policy toward Jews, Pope Pius XII could have stopped or at least greatly reduced collaboration with Nazis by the Catholics in Poland, the Baltic region, Ukraine and France, as well as the co-operation of all Christians in Europe. Without the local 'assistance' that the Christian population eagerly provided to the Fascists, or their silence, the Holocaust would not happened and most Jews in Europe would have survived! Author Note: Each year for the past many years, I have re- issued this prayer. Unfortunately my prayers don't seem to be answered. I know they are the prayers of many of my readers also. What to do?
My rage and anger at the situation we face has grown this last year. This prayer is more hopeful. It also demonstrates my mixed state of rage and hope. I think that all Lovers of Zion have similar feelings......Please read and MAKE IT HAPPEN THIS YEAR, 5769.....Bernard] MY PRAYER FOR ROSH HASHONAH - 5769 By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 26, 2008 As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. May we as a people open our eyes and begin to see the world as it really is. Without becoming depressed and morose, we must realize that there are powerful forces in the world that wish us ill. May we mobilize our strength to fight our enemies until they are defeated. May we not succumb to false prophets of peace. We all want peace. We pray for peace in our Sabbath services every Friday night. After thousands of years, being victims of persecution, expulsion, extermination, and discrimination, it is natural that we yearn for peace with every ounce of our bodies and souls. It is because our hunger for peace is so strong that we must be doubly cautious not to fall for a pseudo-peace. Today none of us believe Chamberlain really negotiated "peace in our time" with Hitler. Why did some Jews believe that Peres and Rabin really negotiated "peace" with Arafat, one of today's Hitlers? Continue reading "MY PRAYER FOR ROSH HASHONAH - 5769" Monday, August 25. 2008BEWARE THE RISEN PEOPLE OF ISRAEL
BEWARE THE RISEN PEOPLE OF ISRAEL
By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 25, 2008 (Revised from original published in 2003) One thing is clear to me: the Lord has blessed Israel by re-uniting Jerusalem and bringing Judea, Samaria, and Gaza back under its control. It would be a horrendous sin against G-d and common sense for Israel to renounce this inheritance to which it is entitled. Israel holds these lands as a sacred trust for the Jewish people in perpetuity. It would not only be sinful, but also criminal, to abuse that trust by denying future generations of Jews their Holy Land -- the Land of their Fathers -- the one tiny spot on planet earth given to them by G-d. As we approach Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, I see Am Yisrael in great pain. I say to the suffering people of Israel. We are an ancient people with a glorious history. Though we suffer from weak leadership, we are greater than our leaders. Our souls are greater than the terrorists and their allies in the Palestinian Authority. We will never be defeated by their bullets and bombs. We have never submitted. We have never renounced our claim to Eretz Yisrael. We are a Holy People, despite our pain. We have vision where our leaders sometime are blind. Our courage is greater than the mean and cruel world which has oppressed us. A Political Order of Battle
Prof. Paul Eidelberg Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 18, 2008 Former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton recently raised the question of a possible Israeli attack on Iran . Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Bolton urged the US to aid Israel before, during, and after such an attack—if it should take place. This may mean that Bolton does not believe a US attack on Iran is in the cards. Indeed, pundits report that Washington is opposed to an Israeli preemptive strike because it would “destabilize” the region. And what would a nuclear armed-Iran do to the region—especially now that Vladimir Putin (allied with Iran) is restoring the Cold War, largely by means of Russia’s oil and gas resources on which Europe is dependent? What does all this mean for Israel ? The continuance of a Kadima-led government can only spell further disaster—and not only because Kadima is committed to territorial retreat from Judea and Samaria . That very commitment signifies that the leaders of that ersatz party do not have the guts to deal with the Iranian threat. What about Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, if should he become Israel ’s prime minister? It was with this question in mind that I recently urged that he submit a bill to abrogate the Oslo Agreement. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF GEORGIAN INDEPENDENCE
MAY ISRAEL LEARN THE LESSONS OF HISTORY SO AS NOT TO REPEAT THE MISTAKES OF THE PAST. THE NATURE OF PEACE AND PEACE TREATIES By Bernard J. Shapiro (1993, 1994, 1995) Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 17, 2008 Great issues of war and peace as related to Israel are being debated by Jews across America. Israelis are debating the same issues among themselves. There are strong opinions on both sides of the Atlantic as well as both sides of the major issues. What seems to be lacking in all these discussions is the proper historical context. Professor Paul Eidelberg of Bar-Ilan University, reviews the historical facts. Between 1945 and 1978 the longest time without a war going on someplace was a mere 26 days. On an average day there are 12 wars being fought somewhere on earth. The consensus of scholars has been that the norm of international relations is not peace but war. As Eidelberg reports, "Indeed, the occurrence of 1,000 wars during the last 2,500 years indicates that "peace" is little more than a preparation for war. Which means that peace treaties are WORTHLESS, to say the least." Of Kurds And Arabs: Beyond Ignorance…The Allegedly Free Press
by Gerald A. Honigman FREEMAN CENTER FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES August 8, 2008 If it was just another State Department travesty, I could accept it. After all, I’m used to the Foggy Folks doing such things as fighting President Truman over his supporting Israel’s very rebirth; concocting latter day Arafatian Fatah “good cops” to force down Israel’s throat (knowing that on the issue of a permanent Jewish Israel, Abbas’s boys totally agree with the Hamas “bad cops”); demanding that Israel itself supply weapons to Fatah--which has as much, if not more, Jewish blood on its hands than Hamas--only to see such things as yeshiva students later massacred as a result; setting up equivalency standards whereby murderer and those in pursuit are placed on the same moral plane; and so forth. The Arabists who wield too much say at Foggy Bottom have played such games for well over a half century now. APPEALS to the World for Sympathy for Jews in Israel Misses the Point
By Prof. Eugene Narrett After the second assault in Jerusalem by an Arab driving a bulldozer down a street, this time on King David Street in Jerusalem (July 22), an attack in which a civilian again was the first one to stop the attacking murderer, Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Daniel Gillerman, appealing for empathy and understanding, addressed these words to his colleagues: "[In Israel] You will see a country which is contributing each and every day to mankind and to humanity, not just to itself and to the Jewish people, and making the world a better place...." He asked his colleagues to "imagine, for one moment, what it is like to be an Israeli." Boarding a Bus with Fear He asked them to picture "a grandfather like me who sometimes goes to the kindergarten to pick "Sitting in a coffee house in Paris, Moscow and New York, costs a few dollars. Sitting in a coffee house in Jerusalem could cost many lives." up my granddaughter and whose heart breaks when he sees an armed guard at the entrance to the kindergarten."
