While I have studied this history over many years, his article was tough for even a scholar to fathom.

The Catholic Church was as bad as Jews believed possible, but Lutheranism was worse. Please read his article at the end of my commentary. As I have written many times before, I fear a Second Holocaust.

The reasons for this fear are many and well substantiated. The level of anti-Semitism is rising rapidly and have now reached the level of the 1930's. There are four kinds of anti-Semitism that today are mixing in today’s world into a toxic formula for Jews. They are:

1. Traditional European Nationalist anti-Semitism. Jews are seen as a foreign race affecting the purity of the various nations.
2. The Christian religion, evolving between Catholic and protestant Jew haters. Various sects believe in the false accusations of deicide, blood libel and devil worship. Some just simply "replacement theology" (G-d’s Israel is replaced by Christians).
3. The Islamic religious traditions based on the Koran. The Islamist philosophy ranks all nations servants of the true religion founded by Muhammad. It is a cruel and cold faith where murderers of Jews, Christians, Hindus and other non-Moslems are insured a place in paradise.
4. Once Jews became sovereign in their own land as the Holy Scriptures predicted, many non Jews began to fear retribution for the evil they meted out to the Jews over the last 3500 years.

Like just about every Zionist, I am in terrible pain because of the continued diplomatic and strategic imbecility of the Israeli government. That doesn't mean that all members are equally bad, only that as a group they continue doing stupid things together.

Examples:
1. Since Oslo (1993) they have chosen to empower our enemies.
2. The policy of retreat and appeasements which never worked with any nation in the history of the world, became an Israel strategic policy.
3. The minimize the importance of the PA bid for UN recognition as if the fact that they have already lost the battle for unbiased history. Nowhere in their thinking is the concept of fighting back.
4. Israeli's raised since the founding of the State of Israel to be Lions of Judah are led into battlefields, like lambs to the slaughter. Israeli civilians, woman, children and the elderly are forced to run for cover during missile barrages. Terrorists rip their bodies apart as if they were not even human. It all makes me think of the Holocaust. Never Again???
5. Since 1982 (Lebanon) the leftist establishment has used every Dirty Non-Democratic Trick in the book to destroy Zionism and the morale of true Israeli Patriots.
6. Israel's Attorney General, the Police, Border Patrol, Supreme Court, News Media, Shin Bet (Israel's Secret Service) and all the leftist pro Arab political parties (plus Arab terrorist political parties) all conspire to crush the democratic Zionist will of 95% of Israel's Jewish population.
7. To me, this is not Kosher. Only a change in the electoral system can force a change. Only a change in all branches of Israel's government from the Justice Department through the IDF Officer Corp and especially the powers of the Prime Minister. A quick look at Israeli shows that each minister and the very powerful PM have the ability to do the opposite of what they are elected to do.
8. This sickens and revolts me. I have written about it many time in the past. Unfortunately the left has emasculated the Zionists, dating back
to the Altalena. And before that Jabotinsky was silenced in Europe, as he warned about the coming Holocaust. [My grandfather, Harry W. Freeman was also waning Jews all over Texas about the dangers of Nazism in the 30's.]

As we approach the New Year 5773, I am reflecting over lifetime surpassing the biblical three score (20) and ten. I have seen a lot, learned a lot, suffered and been redeemed a lot. I am not a perfect Jew. I have many failings. The worst, I imagine, is my failure to understand Jewish ritual.

Since I was very young, I never seemed to follow authority. It didn’t matter who it was: parent, political or religious leader. I was born a rebel and have been a rebel all my life. I was greatly influence by my grandfather, Harry W. Freeman, who had studied to be a Rabbi in the Russian-Polish Pale at the end of the 19th century. Like many young Jews of that period, he joined the Communist Party to overthrow the Czar. They believed that the Jews must be freed from the oppression and persecution that affected their daily life.

The Czar’s secret police blessed him by driving him out of country and he escaped to America. This saved him from Nazi extermination and thus I live today by that Mazal. He landed in Galveston, became an attorney and founded the first chapter of ZOA in Houston as the real solution to the "Jewish Question."

Another year has passed and we find Israel in a more perilous situation than any year since the War of Independence. The Israel Defense Forces are powerful and fully capable of destroying all enemies.

But there is a mighty force that prevents the activation of this force to protect the People of Israel. That force is a polititical, media, judicial, secret service, border police and left wing military elite, who have chosen to permit Arab terrorist to gain dominance in our Holy Land. They deliberately prosecute, persecute and destroy the Builders of Zion and turn a blind eye to the pervasive theft of the Land of Israel by terrorists.

When an Arab attacks a Jew, the Jew is prosecuted for defending himself. The Arab goes free to harass, steal and attack more Jews in the future. There is no deterrence. They laugh at the Jews, like the Nazis did during the Holocaust, as they striped them naked and marched them to their death.

I will not be silent as the Israel, we prayed for over 2000 years, is destroyed by week and incompetent leadership. Leadership that has lost the Zionist passion of the Maccabees, Bar Kochba, Ben Gurion, Jabotinzky, Stern and Kahane.

ISRAEL INDEPENDENCE AFTER 63 YEARS

No one should fool themselves into thinking that giving the Arabs of Judea and Samaria Jordanian citizenship would solve anything in the long run. Jordan is not as friendly (population wise) as we are led to believe. Though the government is helpful and friendly, that could change in the blink of an eye. Should American troops leave Iraq and it falls to Iran, the consequences would be severe for Israel. With Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza under Iranian control, it could easily extend its reach to Jordan and the Judean-Samarian ridge overlooking Israel's vulnerable coast.

My Bottom Line (Conclusion)

Israel's central problem is psychological and no amount of beautiful rhetoric and wonderful proposals can change that.

When will the Nationalist Camp realize that we are "at war already" with the PLO/Hamas/Hezbollah supporting tyranny (the LEFT) that rules Israel? At what point will Israelis realize that the CIVIL WAR they fear, IS ALREADY TAKING PLACE AND THEY ARE LOSING? When will the true Zionists take over Israel and rid the country of the Arab and Jewish traitors.

After 2000 years of homelessness, we are privaliged in this generation to see a new and productive Jewish State. Why do we let these evildoers threaten to take it from our hands.

When I founded the Freeman Center back in 1992, I gave a copy of Bibi's book, A PLACE AMONG THE NATIONS, everyone joining. I was very impressed at the clear understanding of history and the Jewish place in it. I especially appreciated the chapter on Czechoslovakia and how it related to the current Arab-Israeli issues.

Now, we see the pitiful image of Israel's PM running after the princes of Europe hat in hand. Does he have no pride? Does he not know how powerful Israel is really? Has he not read the articles of Paul Eidelberg and Yoram Ettinger broadcast here for the world to see?

Despite protestations of Israel's Supreme Court of the Arab People (and not Jews), there is NO SUCH THING AS INTERNATIONAL LAW!!! The only thing that has ever mattered in world history is POWER. Machiavelli knew it. So did Lao Tsu, Muhammed, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Mao, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin.

Barak has raised the idea of a separation between the PA and Israel. It is not a new idea and as far back as 1995 I explained why it won't work. Here is that article. Today in 2011 his big "idea" is missile shields. They won't work either. Anit-missiles systems are very expensive and the terrorists can keep producing thousands of cheap missiles to overwhelm them.

The idea of separation has much appeal to an Israeli population feeling threat0ened daily by hostile Arabs. The Israeli government recently advanced an elaborate plan to construct hi-tech fences and new military checkpoints between Israel and the Palestinian West Bank in an effort to reduce the risk of militant violence. Israeli security officials brought the plan before the Knesset a day after Islamic extremists opened fire on an Israeli bus near the West Bank town of Hebron, killing two Jewish settlers and wounding five. The separation plan involves building extensive fences, other barriers and restricting Palestinian access into Israel through eight to ten crossings points.

The border would be heavily patrolled by Israeli soldiers and police. Cost estimates range from $300 million to $500 million. An economic report on the draft plan said the cost would be too high and separation would lead to political and economic instability in the PLO areas, perhaps intensifying the danger of attacks from opponents of the Israeli-PLO peace process. Analysts such as Dore Gold, Emanuel Winston and Ze'ev Schiff have discussed many of the reasons why it simply won't work.

For another reason why it is the wrong approach to security, it is worth repeating a story I wrote, which appeared in an article entitled, DETERRENCE OR DHIMMIZATION (THE MACCABEAN, January 1995): Back in 1965, in a small meeting room in Tel Aviv, former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gave a pep talk to a group of RAFI (Rishimat Poalai Israel) volunteers, myself included. At that time, RAFI, a breakaway faction of the Mapai Party, included such notables as former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and former Defense Minister Shimon Peres. Peres and Dayan had been considered the "hawks" of Mapai and it was no accident that in the 1965 election they supported a strong defense and security policy.

How Israel Should Respond to Recognition of PA

The Israeli policy of expressing regret as country after country recognizes the terrorist PA as a legitimate country is foolish. [See article below:] Such a country, ripped from the heart of Israel is both an economic absurdity, but a serious and existential threat to Israel's survival.

WHAT IS A PROPER RESPONSE FOR A SELF RESPECTING NATION:
1. Withdraw Israeli ambassador and expel that countries ambassador
2. Immediately renounce OSLO, re-occupy YESHA and launch a new military offensive to root out terrorists
3. And finally annex YESHA and make the whole recognition problem mute.

HOW ISRAEL SHOULD RESPOND TO IRANIAN WARSHIPS OFF THE COAST

1. Very simple, sink them preemptively
2. No warnings, no threats, no words like "unfortunate, provocative"
3. Just sink them and let their ambassador to Israel complain to the FM and PM. Oh I forgot, they don't recognize Israel, so who cares.
4. If the UN takes up the issue then withdraw from the UN and expel all UN personel from Israeli territory.Who needs that anti-Semitic organization
5. If the US, EU, or Arab/Muslim Nations complain then respond by sending them a short not. It should say: This is the NEW ISRAEL. Wild and Crazy so you had better not MESS WITH US. It is a great slogan for Texas ("Don't Mess With Texas"), why not Israel.

Watch our deterence level shoot up. In a rough neighborhood like the Middle East, it is always better to be feared than loved.

SHAPIRO COMMENTS ON ETTINGER -Israel – America's Unique Ally

As always Yoram Ettinger writes a clear and well researched article. No one can improve on what he does. My complaint is more political and strategic. Most of us know about how important Israel is to America. That will never change the 100 years of hostility to Jews and Israel by the US State Department, CIA, NSA, Justice Department and especially the current White House.

1. Given all the facts enumerated below, why doesn't Ettinger NOT DEMAND that America treat Israel as a strategic ally and NOT "banana repuplic."

2. And more important, why have Israeli and Jewish leaders groveled before the US like the weak ghetto Jews of the past.

Back in pre WWll days Ze'ev Jabotinsky understood the strategic needs of the Jewish People both in Europe but also in Israel. His ideas harkened back to the great Israelite warriors who conquered Eretz Yisrael (Israel) during biblical times. Leaders like Joshua, David, The Maccabees, Shinshon, and Bar Kochba.He was silenced by the organized Jewish leadership. After his death in 1940 was maliciously barred from burial in Israel until Menachem Begin was elected in the late 1970's.

During, days still fresh enough for me to remember, new warriors emerged to fight for Israel. Though they had many flaws (we all do), people like David Ben Gurion, Menachem Begin, Avraham Stern, Ariel Sharon and Moshe Dayan and Yoni Netanayhu led the country to many victories on the battlefield. Others like Moshe Arens, Rabbi Meir Kahane z”l and Herb Zweibon z”l (AFSI) and Moton Klien (ZOA), Emanuel A. Winston fought their battles for Israel on the political front. Caroline Glick, Prof. Paul Eidelberg, Steven Plaut, Helen Freedman (AFSI), Nadia and Ruth Matar (Women in Green) have fought both on the ground and politically.

[Freeman Center Note]: I woke up at 3:AM CST feeling something was wrong. I went to my computer and was shocked to read the tribute below to Herb Zweibon z"l (of blessed memory) by David Wilder. Herb was a dear friend of mine and not just a perpetual inspiration. We first met in 1990 at an AFSI National meeting in New York. Though a long time Zionist, Herb presented me with a coherent serious Zionist ideology with out the wishy washy fuzziness of other Jewish Organizations. From that day forward, AFSI and I were in sync.

I founded and AFSI chapter in Houston (1990) and then started the Freeman Center For Strategic Studies in 1993. Herb became a member of the Freeman Center's Board of Directors and I was on the Board of AFSI. We worked together for Eretz Yisrael. When upset or depressed at the foolish and dangerous events in the world and Israel, I would frequently call Herb. Herb always took the time to talk to me and keep me motivated. If we need money to keep operating, Herb always would send me a generous check.

Jabotinsky and Shmuel Katz were his intellectual and ideological teachers, but Herb was mine. I loved him and will miss him more than words can say.......

During my 23 years as owner of House of Books in Houston, I learned many valuable lessons. One in particular seems to have an application to the current situation in Israel. Let me explain:

In 1978, the store was victimized by a short change artist. One of my clerks was at the register when a well dressed gentleman approached with a paperback book costing $2.95. He gave her a $20 bill and then began a back and forth exchange of money. In the end, the bookstore lost about $60.
I called the Houston police department and requested that an officer come to the store and brief my employees on how to prevent this crime from happening again. The officer came and told us a little story. It seems that Johnny Carson once asked a short change artist to come to his show and try to fool him while he was fully alert to what was going down. The criminal had no problem and his skill marveled the audience.

MY PRAYER FOR ISRAEL ROSH HASHONA 5771

As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits.

May we as a people open our eyes and begin to see the world as it really is. Without becoming depressed and morose, we must realize that there are powerful forces in the world that wish us ill. May we mobilize our strength to fight our enemies until they are defeated. May we not succumb to false prophets of peace. We all want peace. We pray for peace in our Sabbath services every Friday night.

After thousands of years, being victims of persecution, expulsion, extermination, and discrimination, it is natural that we yearn for peace with every ounce of our bodies and souls. It is because our hunger for peace is so strong that we must be doubly cautious not to fall for a pseudo-peace.

Today none of us believe Chamberlain really negotiated "peace in our time" with Hitler. Why do some Jews believe that Peres and Rabin really negotiated "peace" with Arafat, one of today's Hitlers? The Jewish people must learn the value of unity in the face of so many enemies who wish them ill.

Nothing to talk about. The only peace the Arabs can offer Israel is the Peace of the grave.
2. Lone Zionist at Anti-Israeli Rally.
That is good, but would it have been wrong to take a few friends along. And go undercover and bash a few heads. The Midrash tells us that it is Kosher to kill those who come to kill us. I am not saying this, Jewish Law says this.
3. Two terror suspects nabbed on flight from US.
The US, the World and Israel are responsible for terrorism by showing restraint in destroying it. Also by funding, fearing and appeasing terrorists. Late reports indicate the Dutch will release them.
4. Back Taxes May Stop Ground Zero Mosque.
Jews, Christians, Hindus and 9-11 victims should knock down the doors and sit in that place, like the Civil Rights Movement (1959-1966). Why wait for the IRS which is controlled by a Muslim President?
5. PA Prime Minister’s Diplomatic War Against Israel.
My dear Lovers of Zion, this is Israel’s fault. Israeli must stop whining and do something. For example: blow up or jam the anti-Semitic radio and TV Stations. Arrest the Moslem preachers of hate and close their hateful schools. Stop funding anti-Jewish hate education. Stop funding PA’s diplomatic hate campaign against Israel.
6. Shas Leader Rabbi Yosef: Build in All of Judea and Sameria.
Good advice. My advice to Rabbi Yosef: If the Israeli coalition does not follow your advice-WITHDRAW YOUR PARTY FROM COALITION AND BRING THIS GOVERNMENT DOWN. Don’t fear for Israel, HaShem will be by your side.

The Apocalypse is coming.

Those of us who understand what is really going on in the world must cease being "nice Jewish boys and girls."

1. We must stop promoting or even using the word peace or just peace settlement. It is fight or die. Learn this.

2. We must cease all dependence on the USA or its Moslem President to save Israel.

3. We must stop whinning about anti-Semitism and train ourselves, including youth to defend themselves.

4. An Israeli government that won't defend its citizens against Arab attack is not a Zionist government. When proud Jews in Israel defend themselves from Arab attack, the Israeli police, government, and justice system put them through hell. These people should not rule a Jewish State.

5. I am sick and tired of Israeli diplomats trying to win favor with
ant-Semites, who will never support us.

6. I am sick and tired of American Jews refusing to take a stand to protect their fellow Jews. But have some kind of wishy, washy Ghetto mentality. They don't have to please Moslems, Leftists, socialists, communists, white and black people who do not care about the best interests of the Jewish People. And I hate those Jewish ACLU lawyers who would call me a rascist because I speak truth to lies.

7. I am sick and tired of all the delay in destroying Iran's nuclear threat. I know how difficult it is. But I am also not stupid and I know that five years ago would it have been easier. I know that the Israeli government keeps making it harder for the military to accomplish its mission. My readers on the Freemanlist know why I say this. the proliferation of missiles from North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China to Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and back to Iran.

8. And by the way the terrorists on all Israel's borders must be annihilated. We, the Jewish People did not suffer for 2000 years SHOULD NOT lose our Eretz Yisrael, because we are nice Jewish boys and girls.

9. I am sick and tired of Barak and Peres still being involved in Israeli politics. They should have been retired long ago.

In 1897 in Basle, Switzerland, Theodore Herzl founded the World Zionist Organization. There were great accomplishments in the last 100 years. Much has happened to the Jewish people who found themselves on a roller coaster with many traumatic ups and downs. The Holocaust was the lowest point and the establishment of Israel was a high point. There was the great victory of 1967 and the trauma of 1973. Zionism flourished, Israel prospered, Judea, Samaria and Gaza were settled. The Ethiopian return to Zion brought tears to our eyes with pride. The great Russian migration to Israel literally changed the country for ever.

And then a cataclysmic and horrific event took place. A small clique of charlatans, with anti-Zionist delusions, took over the Israeli government in 1992. They deceived the Israeli voters by placing ("Mr. Security") Yitzhak Rabin at the head of their ticket. They promised security and then proceeded to dismantle the Jewish State. 100 years of Zionism are being undone in a few years. The new Likud government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not seem to have the political will to undo the damage of Oslo.

In the past few years, it seems that the main effort of Israeli governments was the creation of a Palestinian state. The word peace was perverted and distorted, coming to mean surrender and appeasement.

The year is 70 C.E. and a young Roman legionnaire stands on a hill overlooking Jerusalem. While he watches it burn, he says to his comrades in Latin, "Judea Capta Est" (Judea is conquered).Yet like the legendary phoenix, rising from the ashes of its own destruction, Israel burst onto the world's stage 2000 years later, with the cry of a lusty infant yearning to breathe free. Five Arab armies tried to destroy that new life before it could take hold. With blood and fire, including the sacrifice of one per cent of its population (6000 of its best young people), besieged Israel secured its independence.

Just nine short years earlier, European Jewry faced its most devastating experience, the Holocaust. In the areas under Nazi occupation, the Jewish death rate was 90%. Despite revolts in dozens of camps, and heroic resistance with the partisans of free Europe, the Jews were unorganized, unarmed and ultimately became victims. During both the Holocaust and Israel's War of Independence, the world and its leaders were indifferent, if not hostile, to the fate of the Jews.

REDEEMING THE TEMPLE MOUNT

Back in 1993, I started inviting people to explain the significance of rebuilding the Temple Mount in Jewish history and its affect on the World. Rabbi Moishe Traxler was very helpful in explaining to me the Lubavitch position regarding the rebuilding of the Temple. They very clearly prohibit any activity on the Temple Mount until the coming of the Messiah. The Israeli Consul General (Houston) Meir Romem was quick to tell me about the horrible international consequences of attempting to rebuild the Temple.

Others, including Rabbis of great note, told me the rebuilding of the Temple would require the introduction of animal sacrifices. A friend, a vegetarian and animal rights activist, was horrified by such a prospect. All the myths were refuted. Rambam explained that animal sacrifice is not necessary if the Temple is rebuilt. He talked about a process of REDEMPTION. First regain control of the Temple Mount.

INTRODUCTION

In 1934, Harry W. Freeman, my grandfather, was already lecturing about the dangers of Hitler and Nazism. Nobody listened. The Holocaust was not prevented. Today, in 2009 there are 1.9 billion Arab & Moslem people who plan a second Holocaust against the Jews of Israel and the world. The governments and people of Europe not only acquiesce but actively aid in this genocidal plan through diplomatic and material support. The American State Department encourages the Arabs by actively striving to weaken Israel’s strategic and military superiority. Their first stage is to use the so called “peace process” to weaken Israel and strip it of its strategic territories. They are being aided by the same hypocrites and accomplices in the West who failed to aid the Jews of Europe in their darkest hour. Unfortunately, even left-wing Israelis have fallen victims to the seductive lure of peace and have begun a policy of appeasement similar to that tried with Hitler. The results will be no different.

The Arab propaganda full of slanders and libels; the media bias against Israel replete with double standards and the rewriting of history are all working to the same end: the de-legitimation of Israel. Israel is the only country considered by many to be GUILTY OF ORIGINAL SIN by virtue of its very existence. This process of de-legitimation has as its goal creating a world climate in which the DESTRUCTION of Israel is acceptable. Many in the Jewish community are either apathetic or fail to recognize this threat. Fortunately the Jews have new allies in the Evangelical Christian Community and in the Hindu community that has suffered Moslem depredations for about1400 years.

As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits.

SIMPLE RULES FOR CREATING A GIANT WAVE OF ALIYA TO ISRAEL

1. Crush terrorism and pre-empt all existential threats to the State of Israel. Why move to a country unable to protect its Jewish population?

2. Annex all state lands within the borders of Israel (post 1967). Annex all property stolen from the Jewish People during the last 2000 years, including Church and Waqf property (exceptions, of course for Holy Places. The term Holy Places does not include fraudulent claims of Muslims to Jewish or Christian Holy Places.). Remove all illegal Arab buildings and farms.

3. Require all voting citizens of Israel to do military or community service for 3 years (including Arabs). The right to vote and be a citizen will depend such service + a loyalty oath to the Jewish State.

4. Re-affirm that Israel is a Jewish State and NOT a democratic (one man one vote) state of all its citizens. The loyal citizens of Israel whether Jewish, Christian, Bedouin, Druze, or Arab will have equal rights.

5. Adopt Prof. Paul Eidelberg's constitution with constituency elections.

6. Open up Judea & Samaria for massive building, thus creating giant suburbs close to the heavily populated Israeli coastline. A system of toll roads, and light rail will connect these suburbs to the coast from Ashdod to Nahariya. This will solve the over population along Israel's coast and create a better quality of living for all Israelis.

7. Anyone in Israel who raises up a rock to crush Jewish skulls, or a knife, gun or bomb to kill Jews should be expelled from Eretz Yisrael. Those not loyal to the State of Israel as a Jewish State and wish to replace it with an Arab/Muslim country, should lose all citizenship rights and be encouraged to leave. If they incite hatred and anti-Jewish feelings, they should be expelled.

A final thought: It took Jews 2000 years to regain Eretz Yisrael. We should most emphatically not allow the world who wished us dead to influence our decisions on how we should LIVE.

1. Tell him that he is now president of a great country that Israelis have always loved. He should do his best not to destroy it by turning it into a third-world Socialist non-democratic nation.

2. Please remind him that Israel is a sovereign Jewish nation and will not take orders from either him, the UN, EU, NATO, or the Arab dictators. Let him understand that when his people (white, black and Muslim) were still barbarians the Jewish People had already built a great civilization based on Justice and Monotheism.

3. Explain to him that there can be no peace treaty with Muslims, because they do not keep treaties. Israel is too smart to sign another peace of paper for a fake peace. For 16 years, Israeli leaders have pissed away territory, security and deterrence for NOTHING. We have had enough.

4. There have been a long line of officials in the US State Department and CIA, who have worked hard to damage Israel’s ability to survive in its very hostile neighborhood. Time after time, they pull Israel back from total victory over its enemies. Those days are gone forever.

5. We are sick and tired of your Justice system targeting good Jews like Jonathan Pollard for exceptional anti-Semitic treatment. I say to you with full authority and intent that we will capture and try every CIA agent in Israel unless Pollard is released within 10 days. Enough is enough.

THE VATICAN AND ISRAEL
Diplomatic Relations, Recognition & Reparations

As most Jews are preparing to celebrate Israel's 44th year of independence, the Vatican is embroiled in a weighty discussion of whether to recognize the Jewish State. Most of us who have followed this issue over many years placed most of the blame for lack of relations on the Vatican's fear of offending the Arabs who have substantial Christian minorities in their countries.

During Israel's early years, the official Vatican excuse for not establishing relations was Israel's refusal to internationalize Jerusalem. That was a part of the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan the was rejected by the Arab states. The Jordanians who controlled the Christian Holy Places in Jerusalem during that time period also rejected internationalization. In modern times, the Vatican has recognized the impossibility of turning the clock back on Jerusalem, and now insists on a resolution of the Palestinian conflict before establishing relations.

Dr. Michael Kaniel, writing in the Jerusalem Post (April 25, 1992), analyzes the religious origins of the Vatican's anti-Israel policies. He shows how the real reason the Vatican has withheld formal recognition is because the Jewish State represents a vexing contradiction to Catholic theology. When Theodor Herzl met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Merry del Val to request support of the Zionist movement on January 22, 1904, the cardinal said: "as long as the Jews deny the divinity of Christ...how can we agree to their regaining possession of the Holy Land?...They should first have to accept conversion." Three days later Pope Pius X told Herzl: "the Jews have not recognized our Lord; therefore we can not recognize the Jewish people."

However, there are some important things that must be remembered by Israeli voters.

1. Please don't be fooled into thinking that the current government of Livni, Olmert and Barak represent a true Zionist government.

2. While the current military operation in Gaza is necessary, it SHOULD have be done much earlier. Hamas has had over two years to build up its strength and prepare for battle. Following Hezbollah tactics and with Iranian support, it has stockpiled missiles (anti-tank, anti-air and ground to ground) and built underground bunkers and communication tunnels. They have prepared booby traps and hidden bombs to kill Israel soldiers if they should invade.

3. In fact, do you remember that when this government committed population transfer of Jews from Gaza, they promised immediate retaliation should there be hostile action from the terrorists. THERE WAS NO SERIOUS REACTION AS THE ISRAELIS ON THE BORDER OF GAZA SUFFERED AND BLED.

The word has gone forth from Jerusalem. Now there is no doubt, despite a multitude of denials. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin (and now there is talk that Netanyahu might be interested in a deal.) has already agreed to surrender the whole Golan Heights to Syrian dictator Hafez Assad. It took months of couching, but finally Syrian dictator Hafez Assad has learned to say the word "peace." Does he mean it? The United State's State Department has announced that once peace is made with Syria, then 18 other Arab countries will make peace with Israel. The pressure to accept a withdrawal will be immense. Golan residents are beginning massive resistance, including hunger strikes and demonstrations. Labor MK Avigdor Kahalani is organizing a faction in the Knesset to resist withdrawal from the Golan. He has tabled a bill to raise the vote necessary for approval of territorial change from a simple majority (61) to 70 Knesset members.

The time has come to clear the smoke and mirrors. There is a significant Israeli dilemma in the negotiating framework with Syria. I call this dilemma: the "Mubarak gambit." After Egyptian dictator Anwar Sadat's death, his successor Hosni Mubarak discovered that Egypt could ignore its peace treaty obligations to Israel with impunity. Sadat had signed over 50 agreements and amendments to the Camp David Accords, which spelled out in great detail normalization of relations with Israel. These included trade, tourism, science, cultural and other attributes of peaceful relations. The late Menachem Begin, of blessed memory, fully believed that his sacrifice of Sinai, with its air bases and oil, was worth the inauguration of peaceful relations with the most important country in the Arab world.

Not long ago, a spokesperson for Pope Benedict XVI said that the Pope would not visit Israel until a caption attached to a photo hanging in Yad Vashem of Pope Pius XII, who reigned during the Holocaust era, was removed. The caption states that Pius XII "abstained from signing the Allied declaration condemning the extermination of the Jews" and "maintained his neutral position throughout the war".

Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, stands by the description and affirms that it has ensured that the presentation of the subject in the Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem is based on the best research regarding this topic.

Millions of Christians also died during WW2 including priests and nuns, but Pope Pius XII did not protest! The Church did not protest about the genocide of the Roma people or the Nazi hunt for the members of the 'wicked' Christian denominations.

The Vatican claims that Pius worked "secretly and silently". We must be direct and honest about it: Yes, he was silent! Some assert that the Vatican was actively involved in saving up to 860,000 Jews by establishing an escape network in some countries. Even if this is true, they disregard the fact that by speaking out against Nazi policy toward Jews, Pope Pius XII could have stopped or at least greatly reduced collaboration with Nazis by the Catholics in Poland, the Baltic region, Ukraine and France, as well as the co-operation of all Christians in Europe. Without the local 'assistance' that the Christian population eagerly provided to the Fascists, or their silence, the Holocaust would not happened and most Jews in Europe would have survived!

As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits.

May we as a people open our eyes and begin to see the world as it really is. Without becoming depressed and morose, we must realize that there are powerful forces in the world that wish us ill. May we mobilize our strength to fight our enemies until they are defeated. May we not succumb to false prophets of peace. We all want peace. We pray for peace in our Sabbath services every Friday night. After thousands of years, being victims of persecution, expulsion, extermination, and discrimination, it is natural that we yearn for peace with every ounce of our bodies and souls. It is because our hunger for peace is so strong that we must be doubly cautious not to fall for a pseudo-peace. Today none of us believe Chamberlain really negotiated "peace in our time" with Hitler. Why did some Jews believe that Peres and Rabin really negotiated "peace" with Arafat, one of today's Hitlers?

BEWARE THE RISEN PEOPLE OF ISRAEL

One thing is clear to me: the Lord has blessed Israel by re-uniting Jerusalem and bringing Judea, Samaria, and Gaza back under its control. It would be a horrendous sin against G-d and common sense for Israel to renounce this inheritance to which it is entitled. Israel holds these lands as a sacred trust for the Jewish people in perpetuity. It would not only be sinful, but also criminal, to abuse that trust by denying future generations of Jews their Holy Land -- the Land of their Fathers -- the one tiny spot on planet earth given to them by G-d.

As we approach Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, I see Am Yisrael in great pain. I say to the suffering people of Israel. We are an ancient people with a glorious history. Though we suffer from weak leadership, we are greater than our leaders. Our souls are greater than the terrorists and their allies in the Palestinian Authority. We will never be defeated by their bullets and bombs. We have never submitted. We have never renounced our claim to Eretz Yisrael. We are a Holy People, despite our pain. We have vision where our leaders sometime are blind. Our courage is greater than the mean and cruel world which has oppressed us.

Former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton recently raised the question of a possible Israeli attack on Iran . Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Bolton urged the US to aid Israel before, during, and after such an attack—if it should take place.

This may mean that Bolton does not believe a US attack on Iran is in the cards. Indeed, pundits report that Washington is opposed to an Israeli preemptive strike because it would “destabilize” the region. And what would a nuclear armed-Iran do to the region—especially now that Vladimir Putin (allied with Iran) is restoring the Cold War, largely by means of Russia’s oil and gas resources on which Europe is dependent?

What does all this mean for Israel ? The continuance of a Kadima-led government can only spell further disaster—and not only because Kadima is committed to territorial retreat from Judea and Samaria . That very commitment signifies that the leaders of that ersatz party do not have the guts to deal with the Iranian threat.

What about Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, if should he become Israel ’s prime minister? It was with this question in mind that I recently urged that he submit a bill to abrogate the Oslo Agreement.

THE NATURE OF PEACE AND PEACE TREATIES

Great issues of war and peace as related to Israel are being debated by Jews across America. Israelis are debating the same issues among themselves. There are strong opinions on both sides of the Atlantic as well as both sides of the major issues. What seems to be lacking in all these discussions is the proper historical context. Professor Paul Eidelberg of Bar-Ilan University, reviews the historical facts.

Between 1945 and 1978 the longest time without a war going on someplace was a mere 26 days. On an average day there are 12 wars being fought somewhere on earth. The consensus of scholars has been that the norm of international relations is not peace but war. As Eidelberg reports, "Indeed, the occurrence of 1,000 wars during the last 2,500 years indicates that "peace" is little more than a preparation for war. Which means that peace treaties are WORTHLESS, to say the least."
