YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE
by Jack Berger Member of the Board of Directors Freeman Center For Strategic Studies October 17, 2011 “You are standing today, all of you (all generations) before Hashem, your G-d, from the heads of your tribes, your elders… your children… from the (highest) in society… to the drawer of your water, for you to pass into the covenant Hashem, your G-d in order to establish you today as a people to Him and that He will be a G-d to you… I call on heaven and earth today to bear witness against you. I have placed life and death before you, a blessing and a curse, you shall choose life so that you will live… to dwell on the land that I swore to your forefathers (to your fathers and grandfathers) and to Abraham, Isaac and to Jacob.” (Deut. 29-30) Looking at the world today I think back to the words of Charles Dickens, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…” When I first read those words in high school, I believed that they were far removed from the rest of my life. America was in a simpler place. My only serious question was why wouldn’t Sandy Koufax pitch the first game of the World Series … after all was Yom Kippur really that big a deal and it wasn’t like he wore a kippah and kept kosher. It was a time when questions hadn’t been asked yet and didn’t need to be answered. Today has caught up with yesterday. For me, years before my Bar Mitzvah, I remember the words on our Day of Atonement. Words when secular Jewish friends of mine only came to synagogue one day a year – would show up on Yom Kippur to hear– “who will live and who will die…” The profundity of that one line and its finite reality, its focus, its simple yet unambiguous statement… is a statement that few Jews can turn away from or forget. The gift we have been given is the gift of time – money comes, money goes, our days are moments as part of an eternity that we are only blessed to know for a very short time. ISRAEL'S CHARACTER FLAWED LEADERSHIP
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies October 16, 20011 "The Arabs do indeed believe in a policy of decisive defeat of Israel. What is more, unlike Israel, the Arabs have the manpower and the religious ideology to weather the war of attrition that Boobi acquiesces in...." At every stage of the conflict -- except for times before election -- Boobi Netanyahu has shown in his important acts that he is a true believer in the Arabs as partners to Israel's ultimate peace. Note that before every election Israelis heard Boobi's silver tongue going on record as backing uncompromising, hard line programs to beat back the designs of the Arab enemy. Yet, when in office, he consistently betrayed these right wing preferments. Continue reading "ISRAEL'S CHARACTER FLAWED LEADERSHIP"

ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION ORDERS AGAINS JEWISH NATIONALISTS
by ADINA KUTNICKI Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 26, 2011 (Editor’s Note: The author variously uses the terms GSS [General Security Services], Shin Bet, Shabak, ISA [Israel Security Agency]. They are all names for Israel’s internal security service.] In western democracies, a person’s home is considered his castle. Therefore, if a government banishes a citizen from his home, the act must be based on a judicious interpretation of the law. The detainee must present a clear and present danger. Chief Justice Aharon Barak, previous president of the Supreme Court, underscored his belief in this principle, albeit not from a perspective which protects the rights of Jewish nationalists. On July 15, 2002, Justice Barak ruled in the Ajuri case: ”Our point of departure is that in principle removing a person from his dwelling place and forcibly moving him someplace else causes serious harm to his self respect, his freedom, and his possessions. A person’s home is not only a roof over his head, it is the means for establishing his physical and social relationships. A number of a person’s basic human rights are harmed when he is forcibly removed to another place , even if such a move does not involve an international crossing.” Tragically, his legal opinion was rendered in relation to the protection of the civil and human rights of terrorists! The security services recommended their expulsion from Nablus to Gaza, and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the terrorists. Even the pro-Arab B’tselem human rights organization is unhappy about administrative detention/expulsion orders, stating: “Undoubtedly the state should act determinedly against ‘settlers’ who harm Palestinians and their property, but the way to achieve this is via criminal proceedings and not administrative orders that are based on confidential information.” Continue reading "ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION ORDERS AGAINS JEWISH NATIONALISTS" Thursday, September 22. 2011NEW YEAR'S GREETING SHANA TOVA 5772
NEW YEAR'S GREETING SHANA TOVA 5772
By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 22, 2011 My Dear Subscribers and Lovers of Zion, Another year has passed and we find Israel in a more perilous situation than any year since the War of Independence. The Israel Defense Forces are powerful and fully capable of destroying all enemies. But there is a mighty force that prevents the activation of this force to protect the People of Israel. That force is a polititical, media, judicial, secret service, border police and left wing military elite, who have chosen to permit Arab terrorist to gain dominance in our Holy Land. They deliberately prosecute, persecute and destroy the Builders of Zion and turn a blind eye to the pervasive theft of the Land of Israel by terrorists. When an Arab attacks a Jew, the Jew is prosecuted for defending himself. The Arab goes free to harass, steal and attack more Jews in the future. There is no deterrence. They laugh at the Jews, like the Nazis did during the Holocaust, as they striped them naked and marched them to their death. I will not be silent as the Israel, we prayed for over 2000 years, is destroyed by week and incompetent leadership. Leadership that has lost the Zionist passion of the Maccabees, Bar Kochba, Ben Gurion, Jabotinzky, Stern and Kahane. On this Rosh HaShona, may the Almighty give strength to his People Israel and courage to fight for survival, even if everyone in the World is against them. May the friends of the Freeman Center be blessed with Health, Love, Prosperity, Security and Peace.......Bernard PS. Attached are the Hardback and paper covers (also E-book) of my new book, due out on Amazon before Chanukah and Christmas. Friday, September 16. 2011LET'S VOTE FOR INDEPENDENCE!!
LET'S VOTE FOR INDEPENDENCE!!
By Steven Plaut Freeman Center For Strategic Studies September 16, 2011 As you know, much of the world is getting ready to recognize a “state” for “Palestinians” in coming days. The US may veto the vote in the Security Council to set up “Palestine” in Israeli lands, and then again maybe it will not veto it. Other countries are going ahead with plans to vote for “Palestine” in the General Assembly, to grant “Palestine” embassy space, to grant it formal recognition, and so on. After years of paying lip service to the righteous need for granting “Palestinians” a state, Netanyahu and his cowardly crew are scratching their heads about what to do and how to stop all this. The best Bibi has come up with is a plan to give a speech in that building on the East River near 42nd street. Continue reading "LET'S VOTE FOR INDEPENDENCE!!" PAYING AN INSTALLMENT ON THE TERRORISM BILL
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies August 18, 2011 "Tit for tat responses by Israel -- the standard Israeli response to attack -- is merely an encouragement of the enemy." Israel this morning is paying another installment on the bill she incurred when she surrendered Gaza to the enemy and enabled Gaza to become a dangerous Arab military base. This fact needs to be called loudly to the attention of Israelis, who are among the most liberal, ideologically obsessed persons on earth. They have all too often followed the rosy line of the leftists that have led the nation to blunder after blunder, surrendering land, diplomatic posture, and moral standing. Confidence in the leftist way should have already been scuttled by its dismal failures. by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies June 10, 2011 "Unless Israel's people and government wake up immediately to the Arab knife being brought ever closer to the Israeli throat and develop effective tactics for Israel's survival ... through bringing the Arab war deep into enemy strongholds and denying him the means and the strategic position to defeat Israel, the dangerous possibilities of Israeli defeat forever linger. But the needed Israeli action can only be undertaken when Israel wakes up to the implacable nature of the enemy, ..." What supporter of Israel can have confidence in the Jewish State if up to this date the country refuses to recognize the reality of the 800 pound gorilla in the room, that the Arab goal is to destroy Israel? In that context, it is evident that the Arab enemy uses negotiations only as a means to further that deadly goal. That enemy tactic has worked splendidly for the Arabs, giving them a steady stream of step by step Israeli surrenders without the Arabs themselves having to make a single concession to Israel. It is not reassuring to contemplate that Israel remains in a perpetual strategic fog, unable to recognize the deadly aim of its Arab adversary. Failing to recognize this, Israel continually rejects decisive action against the enemy since it fears an angry Arab reaction that will foreclose what is the delusional possibility of a peace agreement. by David Bash Freeman Center For Strategic Studies May 13, 2011 "Has Israel at this point gone over the edge, beyond recouping the conditions of "secure and recognized borders" agreed to in UN Resolution 242,...?" Shimon Peres demonstrates that political views are more related to character than to facts. Given a personal character obsessed to be more righteous than any biblical divinity, the resulting views are correspondingly bizarre, going against necessities for defense and long term self preservation. That is the lesson we may learn from Peres's career. to prove this, just check out Peres's views as revealed in a recent interview in the Jerusalem Post. ISRAEL INDEPENDENCE AFTER 63 YEARS
by Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies May 9, 2011 No one should fool themselves into thinking that giving the Arabs of Judea and Samaria Jordanian citizenship would solve anything in the long run. Jordan is not as friendly (population wise) as we are led to believe. Though the government is helpful and friendly, that could change in the blink of an eye. Should American troops leave Iraq and it falls to Iran, the consequences would be severe for Israel. With Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza under Iranian control, it could easily extend its reach to Jordan and the Judean-Samarian ridge overlooking Israel's vulnerable coast. My Bottom Line (Conclusion) Israel's central problem is psychological and no amount of beautiful rhetoric and wonderful proposals can change that. When will the Nationalist Camp realize that we are "at war already" with the PLO/Hamas/Hezbollah supporting tyranny (the LEFT) that rules Israel? At what point will Israelis realize that the CIVIL WAR they fear, IS ALREADY TAKING PLACE AND THEY ARE LOSING? When will the true Zionists take over Israel and rid the country of the Arab and Jewish traitors. After 2000 years of homelessness, we are privaliged in this generation to see a new and productive Jewish State. Why do we let these evildoers threaten to take it from our hands. by Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies May 5, 2011 When I founded the Freeman Center back in 1992, I gave a copy of Bibi's book, A PLACE AMONG THE NATIONS, everyone joining. I was very impressed at the clear understanding of history and the Jewish place in it. I especially appreciated the chapter on Czechoslovakia and how it related to the current Arab-Israeli issues. Now, we see the pitiful image of Israel's PM running after the princes of Europe hat in hand. Does he have no pride? Does he not know how powerful Israel is really? Has he not read the articles of Paul Eidelberg and Yoram Ettinger broadcast here for the world to see? Despite protestations of Israel's Supreme Court of the Arab People (and not Jews), there is NO SUCH THING AS INTERNATIONAL LAW!!! The only thing that has ever mattered in world history is POWER. Machiavelli knew it. So did Lao Tsu, Muhammed, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Mao, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin. Power can be used for good or evil. The defense of Israel and the Jewish People is the most righteous use of power in the course of human history. The Arabs had wanted a new state only as a stop-gap on the way to the elimination of Israel...." "One must live in dread of the proposals that Netanyahu will be presenting to the US Congress in days ahead." What I think I see developing before my eyes is the birth of a new Arab state on Israel's lands. Israel's Leftists and their collaborators -- which include Netanyahu -- will at long last be achieving their dream. Once upon a time they had dreamed of a Jewish state living in safety and security on their ancestral lands, but, this in the last decades, this had given way to their powerful and exciting dream of a new Arab state. SATIRE - PEACE AT LAST
by Steven Plaut Freeman Center For Strategic Studies April 28, 2011 It was in the year 2013. The Israelis at long last gave up their attempts to resist the pressures of the world. Their newly elected national unity government approved the plan. The Palestinians, led by a coalition of the PLO and the Hamas, had already earlier announced the creation of a Palestinian state. Israel’s Left had been holding weekly protests in support of Palestinian statehood. When the UN had officially and unanimously called for such a state, even the United States of Barack Obama voted in favor. The national unity government of Israel announced that Israel was willing to accept the unanimous UN proposal for peace, supported by every single country in the world. Israel would return to its pre-1967 borders, remove all Jewish settlements from the territories of the new state of Palestine, recognize Palestine, and grant Palestine all of East Jerusalem, that is, all of the city located east of a line running north-south through Zion Square, renamed Martyrs’ Square. FATEFUL DECISION COMING
by David Basch Freeman Center For Strategic Studies April 24, 2011 "The question is whether PM Netanyahu's next proposal will mark a new direction in negotiation -- one that walks Israel back from earlier surrender agreements that should be declared nul and void on grounds of the perfidious performance of the Arab enemy." It has been PM Netanyahu's unhappy lot that he has been the one called on to make fateful decisions for Israel and the Jewish people. Maybe that statment should be corrected that it is Israel and the Jewish people's unhappy lot that it is he that is called on to decide these issues for them. Reflecting on what has happened, he has not done well for them. One need only recall that in his first term as PM, elected to stand fast on behalf of Israel against the Oslo process that was delivering Israel into the hands of those that sought to destroy the nation, he failed to stop it in its tracks and even expanded it by contributing the early surrender of additional large portions of Hebron to the Arabs. A decade later, after running on another right wing program, he became the first Israeli leader to subscibe to a Palestinian State. Leading up to this, he was also for the surrender of Gaza, the very surrender that brought Israel's southern cities under Arab bombardment. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth... ...Plato
"The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody had decided not to see." ... Ayn Rand ====================== TWO ARTICLES: DEFENSE VS. OFFENSE DM EHUD BARAK VS. BERNARD J. SHAPIRO Barak has raised the idea of a separation between the PA and Israel. It is not a new idea and as far back as 1995 I explained why it won't work. Here is that article. Today in 2011 his big "idea" is missile shields. They won't work either. Anit-missiles systems are very expensive and the terrorists can keep producing thousands of cheap missiles to overwhelm them. SEPARATION & SECURITY FENCES The Primary Fallacy By Bernard J. Shapiro (1995) Freeman Center For Strategic Studies The Maccabean Online The idea of separation has much appeal to an Israeli population feeling threat0ened daily by hostile Arabs. The Israeli government recently advanced an elaborate plan to construct hi-tech fences and new military checkpoints between Israel and the Palestinian West Bank in an effort to reduce the risk of militant violence. Israeli security officials brought the plan before the Knesset a day after Islamic extremists opened fire on an Israeli bus near the West Bank town of Hebron, killing two Jewish settlers and wounding five. The separation plan involves building extensive fences, other barriers and restricting Palestinian access into Israel through eight to ten crossings points. The border would be heavily patrolled by Israeli soldiers and police. Cost estimates range from $300 million to $500 million. An economic report on the draft plan said the cost would be too high and separation would lead to political and economic instability in the PLO areas, perhaps intensifying the danger of attacks from opponents of the Israeli-PLO peace process. Analysts such as Dore Gold, Emanuel Winston and Ze'ev Schiff have discussed many of the reasons why it simply won't work. For another reason why it is the wrong approach to security, it is worth repeating a story I wrote, which appeared in an article entitled, DETERRENCE OR DHIMMIZATION (THE MACCABEAN, January 1995): Back in 1965, in a small meeting room in Tel Aviv, former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gave a pep talk to a group of RAFI (Rishimat Poalai Israel) volunteers, myself included. At that time, RAFI, a breakaway faction of the Mapai Party, included such notables as former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion and former Defense Minister Shimon Peres. Peres and Dayan had been considered the "hawks" of Mapai and it was no accident that in the 1965 election they supported a strong defense and security policy. Continue reading "DEFENSE VS. By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies www.freeman.org February 21, 2011 How Israel Should Respond to Recognition of PA The Israeli policy of expressing regret as country after country recognizes the terrorist PA as a legitimate country is foolish. [See article below:] Such a country, ripped from the heart of Israel is both an economic absurdity, but a serious and existential threat to Israel's survival. WHAT IS A PROPER RESPONSE FOR A SELF RESPECTING NATION: 1. Withdraw Israeli ambassador and expel that countries ambassador 2. Immediately renounce OSLO, re-occupy YESHA and launch a new military offensive to root out terrorists 3. And finally annex YESHA and make the whole recognition problem mute. HOW ISRAEL SHOULD RESPOND TO IRANIAN WARSHIPS OFF THE COAST 1. Very simple, sink them preemptively 2. No warnings, no threats, no words like "unfortunate, provocative" 3. Just sink them and let their ambassador to Israel complain to the FM and PM. Oh I forgot, they don't recognize Israel, so who cares. 4. If the UN takes up the issue then withdraw from the UN and expel all UN personel from Israeli territory.Who needs that anti-Semitic organization 5. If the US, EU, or Arab/Muslim Nations complain then respond by sending them a short not. It should say: This is the NEW ISRAEL. Wild and Crazy so you had better not MESS WITH US. It is a great slogan for Texas ("Don't Mess With Texas"), why not Israel. Watch our deterence level shoot up. In a rough neighborhood like the Middle East, it is always better to be feared than loved. ================================ Continue reading "MORE COMMENTS OF A FRUSTRATED ZIONIST" Sunday, February 20. 2011SHAPIRO COMMENTS ON ETTINGER -Israel – America's Unique Ally
SHAPIRO COMMENTS ON ETTINGER -Israel – America's Unique Ally
by Bernard J. Shapiro Greeman Center For Strategic Studies February 20, 2011 As always Yoram Ettinger writes a clear and well researched article. No one can improve on what he does. My complaint is more political and strategic. Most of us know about how important Israel is to America. That will never change the 100 years of hostility to Jews and Israel by the US State Department, CIA, NSA, Justice Department and especially the current White House. 1. Given all the facts enumerated below, why doesn't Ettinger NOT DEMAND that America treat Israel as a strategic ally and NOT "banana repuplic." 2. And more important, why have Israeli and Jewish leaders groveled before the US like the weak ghetto Jews of the past. Back in pre WWll days Ze'ev Jabotinsky understood the strategic needs of the Jewish People both in Europe but also in Israel. His ideas harkened back to the great Israelite warriors who conquered Eretz Yisrael (Israel) during biblical times. Leaders like Joshua, David, The Maccabees, Shinshon, and Bar Kochba. He was silenced by the organized Jewish leadership. After his death in 1940 was maliciously barred from burial in Israel until Menachem Begin was elected in the late 1970's. During, days still fresh enough for me to remember, new warriors emerged to fight for Israel. Though they had many flaws (we all do), people like David Ben Gurion, Menachem Begin, Avraham Stern, Ariel Sharon and Moshe Dayan and Yoni Netanayhu led the country to many victories on the battlefield. Others like Moshe Arens, Rabbi Meir Kahane z”l and Herb Zweibon z”l (AFSI) and Moton Klien (ZOA), Emanuel A. Winston fought their battles for Israel on the political front. Caroline Glick, Prof. Paul Eidelberg, Steven Plaut, Helen Freedman (AFSI), Nadia and Ruth Matar (Women in Green) have fought both on the ground and politically. Learning from reports that Israeli governments have been in communication with Arab leaders, who are reported as desiring peace -- now where have I heard that before? -- is not any report that I can be hopeful about. I certainly don't trust the Arabs and certainly not Israeli leaders who, time and again, are led on the basis of Arab promises to drop Israel's guard. After all, did not old Yassir promise the leftist negotiators and Rabin that he wanted peace? And what happened? On the basis of Yassir's encouraging words, Israel brought that terrorist and his whole terrorist Arab army back to Israel, set them up in control of enclaves and gave them all kinds of Israeli aid, so that they could strike against Israel, producing intifadas and dead and maimed Israelis galore. I went to my computer and was shocked to read the tribute below to Herb Zweibon z"l (of blessed memory) by David Wilder. Herb was a dear friend of mine and not just a perpetual inspiration. We first met in 1990 at an AFSI National meeting in New York. Though a long time Zionist, Herb presented me with a coherent serious Zionist ideology with out the wishy washy fuzziness of other Jewish Organizations. From that day forward, AFSI and I were in sync. I founded and AFSI chapter in Houston (1990) and then started the Freeman Center For Strategic Studies in 1993. Herb became a member of the Freeman Center's Board of Directors and I was on the Board of AFSI. We worked together for Eretz Yisrael. When upset or depressed at the foolish and dangerous events in the world and Israel, I would frequently call Herb. Herb always took the time to talk to me and keep me motivated. If we need money to keep operating, Herb always would send me a generous check. Jabotinsky and Shmuel Katz were his intellectual and ideological teachers, but Herb was mine. "I gathered from the session that peace for Israel is difficult indeed since even Bret Stephens could not chart a safe and secure path to such a future ..." On Sunday, January 16, at the yearly OU convention, Bret Stephens, a senior editor at Wall Street Journal, faced off against kippah wearing David Makovsky, a former, journalist, now a member of some U.S. affiliated, foreign policy think tank, on US policy concerning Israel. (Makovsky would say his organization is independent but we know better -- more about that later.) Stephens was great. He presented in depth the why-s and wheres of mistaken Obama policy on Israel. In general, Stephens observed that the Arab side has over many prior decades shown no willingness to make peace and isn't turning over a new leaf today; Israel should be wary about letting its guard down since any tamping down of hostilities is the result of Israeli actions and policies, not Arab; Obama yet presses Israel to not build its communities on its lands beyond the unofficial, so-called "green line" as somehow against peace; this while the Arabs keep moving aggressively against Israel at every turn; etc, etc. Continue reading "STEPHENS VS. We hold these WikiTruths. . . ."
By Mark Langfan, December 12, 2010 Freeman Center For Strategic Studies "We hold these WikiTruths to be self-evident, that all countries (except for the Islamic Republic of Turkey) fear, even, a non-nuclear Iran, that they are all endowed by the United States of America with the right to survive . . .well, maybe at least until next week." There has been "shock and awe" that the Sunni Arab states of Saudi Arabia and Egypt are absolutely convinced, and actually "obsessively" fear that the Iranian/Persian Shiites intend to wipe these Sunni arab states out of existence as completely as Iran intends to wipe out the Israel. The reality and practical consequences of this simple WikiTruth axiom has far from settled into the rarified airs of Western policy elites. In fact, some ersatz journalists and pundits still write articles as if we still live in a pre-Wikileaks "reality." To all the Sunni Arab States, Russia, and the entire West, the reality is that there really is a grave waxing Iranian threat. For the United States not to immediately recalculate all its foreign and order of battle security policy from this inescapable WikiTruth in 2010 is as "delusional" and fatal to world peace as was the belief that somehow Hitler wasn’t a grave and imminent threat to world peace in 1939. This WikiTruth of the Iranian/Persian Eastern threat has two immediate consequences that explain two otherwise unexplainable events: Firstly, Abbas’ "pre-condition" of a total Israeli settlement freeze, and secondly, Obama’s euthanization, and proper burial of the "Peace Process." Two years ago, both were inconceivable, but today both are the undeniable reality. Continue reading "We hold these WikiTruths. . . ."" Which Should Israel Choose? By Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies November 15, 2010 Israel has been swept with Arab violence and terrorism since the late 19th century. Israeli Prime Ministers have tried but failed to stem the tide. Ariel Sharon, well know for his tough tactics in quelling terrorism in Gaza in the 70's, has also failed. Back in 1965, in a small meeting room in Tel Aviv, former Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gave a pep talk to a group of RAFI (Rishimat Poalai Israel) volunteers, myself included. Dayan was always interesting to listen to, but this talk was something special and we paid attention to every word. "The essence of Israel's security in this region (Middle East) is deterrence," he said. "When we formed the State in 1948-9, we were very weak. The Arab States had planes, tanks, heavy artillery and many more soldiers than us. We had very little heavy military equipment. In the period 1949-55, we absorbed almost a million immigrants. Tent cities sprung up all over the country. We were totally disorganized. Had the Arabs mounted another major invasion, we could have lost. We devised a solution to this problem. It was deterrence. Think about being lost in a forest and surrounded by hostile animals. If you light a torch, boldly approach them showing no fear -- they will retreat. But, if you show fear -- they will attack and you are lost. We used this principle to save Israel during those early years. Every time we were attacked, we retaliated ten fold. We showed daring and penetrated deep within their borders to attack our targets. We were fearless, brave, and even a bit bloodthirsty. You know the result. The Arabs were afraid and never attacked. Deterrence worked. By 1956 when we invaded Sinai, the Israel Defense Force was not just strong, it was invincible." Continue reading " PREEMPTION OR DESTRUCTION - Which Should Israel Choose?" SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
Reflections of a Frustrated Zionist by Bernard J. Shapiro Freeman Center For Strategic Studies October 19, 2010 I am getting increasingly frustrated with the constant repetition of the same mistakes in Israel, year after year. Is there no learning curve for Israeli leaders, politicians, and let’s face the Leftist public? Why do we debate the obvious, like does the Land of Israel belong to us. Some other important questions: 1. Why do we negotiate with Abbas, Obama, the UN, the Eu, Egypt, Jordan or any other anti Israel nations, leader, or institutions. JUST SAY NO! They are all short change artists as I wrote about many years ago. Please read. DON’T PLAY WITH THE SHORT CHANGE ARTIST Or Why One Shouldn’t Make Redeployment MapsBy Bernard J. Shapiro From an editorial in the January 1998 issue of THE MACCABEAN ONLINE During my 23 years as owner of House of Books in Houston, I learned many valuable lessons. One in particular seems to have an application to the current situation in Israel. Let me explain: In 1978, the store was victimized by a short change artist. One of my clerks was at the register when a well dressed gentleman approached with a paperback book costing $2.95. He gave her a $20 bill and then began a back and forth exchange of money. In the end, the bookstore lost about $60. I called the Houston police department and requested that an officer come to the store and brief my employees on how to prevent this crime from happening again. The officer came and told us a little story. It seems that Johnny Carson once asked a short change artist to come to his show and try to fool him while he was fully alert to what was going down. The criminal had no problem and his skill marveled the audience. Continue reading "SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT Reflections of a Frustrated Zionist" Monday, October 18. 2010GAZA INVASION ARMADA
GAZA INVASION ARMADA
by Emanuel A. Winston Freeman Center Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies October 18, 2010 Reports indicate that another sea armada of perhaps more than 10 ships will sail from the Syrian port of Latakia where it has been docked for the last 12 days. The main ship in (what they call) the "Viva Palestina" convoy has 380 ‘activists’ from 42 countries, 147 vehicles and $5 million in medical aid. Their declared mission is to break Israel’s arms blockade of Hamas in Gaza. [Latest news: One ship has already docked in Egypt as of Sunday October 17th.] These so-called ‘activists’ are what Vladimir Lenin called “useful idiots” who were carrying the Communist Manifesto. Today’s “useful idiots” are the Islamic sympathizers who are ready to be used by Hamas and Hezb’Allah. To view their "real" purposes, look at their own ‘diary’ (listed below - footnote #1) of the propaganda parade through 3000 miles by land, and the rallies held at each stop. If you can tolerate the full onslaught of their propaganda, their own diary is quite damning. The propaganda campaign that Gaza Muslim Arab Palestinians under Hamas rule have been deprived of food and medicine has been disproved by foreign eye-witnesses, still and video photographs of the Gaza markets full of food, the water parks, the villas and other luxurious living of the "poor Palestinians". The only purpose of Israel’s legal blockade of Gaza to incoming foreign ships is to deny Hamas the free-flow of major weaponry. However, weapons coming from Syria and Iran continue to be smuggled in through hundreds of tunnels starting in Egypt’s Sinai Desert. MUSLIMS ATTACK JEWS; JEWS NOT ALLOWED TO ACT IN SELF-DEFENSE
by Gail Winslow Freeman Center Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies Freeman Center Broadcast - October 12, 2010 The Muslim Arab Palestinians in Jerusalem grow bolder in their attacks on Jewish civilian drivers, men, pregnant women – even children and those who are simply strolling. However, the Police, under the orders of Israel’s current Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, arrest the first Jewish victim they see at the scene. The Arab Muslims accept this encouragement as permission to attack Jews whenever they wish, knowing that Barak, Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Leftist Courts as well as the Leftist Media will side with them. Perhaps a time will come when the Quislings in the Israeli government will be kicked out and a Peoples’ Court will be established to try them for their crimes against their own people. I recall an old saying during the years of the Muslim Ottoman Turks’ rule who treated the Jews cruelly. The saying of that time goes: “Kill a Turk and take a rest.” The message, I suppose, was: “Don’t harm me and I won’t harass you.” But, those evil times are returning as the Arab Muslims take the place of the Turkish Muslims. Regrettably, although the Jews have returned to the Land of their Patriarchs and Matriarchs, many of our own leaders plead for mercy from the very Arab Muslims whom they had to fight and beat in seven wars and continual, ongoing Terrorism. Granted, not all Jewish leaders sniveled, whined and apologized for living and daring to live and fight back. Now, too many of these Jewish leaders play the role models of a beaten people, instead of standing tall as honest victors in a sea of Jew-hating Muslim Arabs. They instruct the Police to harass Jews – especially if they are forced to defend themselves – even against Muslim Arab lynch mobs. Israel’s soldiers have been made fearful of defending themselves with lethal force lest the corrupt and biased Leftist Courts put them on trial for acting in self-defense and defense of their countrymen, women and children who are endangered. An editorial form the October 2003 issue of THE MACCABEAN ONLINE. Re-issued every year I need to.
MY PRAYER FOR ISRAEL ROSH HASHONA 5771 By Bernard J. Shapiro As I survey the fragile planet we call home, my mind makes note of the chaos, blood, and tears. The cries of a million lost souls shatter the night in a million corners of the earth. The sensitive, compassionate among them try to feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked. One by one their energies dissipate. They try to hold back the tide with a teaspoon and then see the impossibility of the task. The Jewish people are but a cosmic speck in this universe. To many Jews who feel deeply about their own people, that speck becomes the whole world. Other Jews are irrevocably tied to non-Jewish pursuits. May we as a people open our eyes and begin to see the world as it really is. Without becoming depressed and morose, we must realize that there are powerful forces in the world that wish us ill. May we mobilize our strength to fight our enemies until they are defeated. May we not succumb to false prophets of peace. We all want peace. We pray for peace in our Sabbath services every Friday night. After thousands of years, being victims of persecution, expulsion, extermination, and discrimination, it is natural that we yearn for peace with every ounce of our bodies and souls. It is because our hunger for peace is so strong that we must be doubly cautious not to fall for a pseudo-peace. Today none of us believe Chamberlain really negotiated "peace in our time" with Hitler. Why do some Jews believe that Peres and Rabin really negotiated "peace" with Arafat, one of today's Hitlers? The Jewish people must learn the value of unity in the face of so many enemies who wish them ill. BERNARD REFLECTS ON SERIOUS NEWS FROM ISRAEL
Recently Drawn From Two Days Of Arutz Sheva August 31 & September 1, 2010 by Bernard J. Shapiro Chairman and Editor Freeman Center For Strategic Studies www.freeman.org 1. Barak meets Abbas in Jordan. Nothing to talk about. The only peace the Arabs can offer Israel is the Peace of the grave. 2. Lone Zionist at Anti-Israeli Rally. That is good, but would it have been wrong to take a few friends along. And go undercover and bash a few heads. The Midrash tells us that it is Kosher to kill those who come to kill us. I am not saying this, Jewish Law says this. 3. Two terror suspects nabbed on flight from US. The US, the World and Israel are responsible for terrorism by showing restraint in destroying it. Also by funding, fearing and appeasing terrorists. Late reports indicate the Dutch will release them. 4. Back Taxes May Stop Ground Zero Mosque. Jews, Christians, Hindus and 9-11 victims should knock down the doors and sit in that place, like the Civil Rights Movement (1959-1966). Why wait for the IRS which is controlled by a Muslim President? 5. PA Prime Minister’s Diplomatic War Against Israel. My dear Lovers of Zion, this is Israel’s fault. Israeli must stop whining and do something. For example: blow up or jam the anti-Semitic radio and TV Stations. Arrest the Moslem preachers of hate and close their hateful schools. Stop funding anti-Jewish hate education. Stop funding PA’s diplomatic hate campaign against Israel. 6. Shas Leader Rabbi Yosef: Build in All of Judea and Sameria. Good advice. My advice to Rabbi Yosef: If the Israeli coalition does not follow your advice-WITHDRAW YOUR PARTY FROM COALITION AND BRING THIS GOVERNMENT DOWN. Don’t fear for Israel, HaShem will be by your side. SHAPIRO/ ETTINGER COMMENTS -
Middle East Sandstorms and Tumbleweeds FREEMAN CENTER FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES August 26, 2010 Freeman Note: This is abrilliant analysis by Ettinger. I have always appreciated his wonderful insight into Arab-Israel-US issues. I have ONE complaint, not just for Yoram, but for most pro-Israel writers. The Apocalypse is coming. Those of us who understand what is really going on in the world must cease being "nice Jewish boys and girls." 1. We must stop promoting or even using the word peace or just peace settlement. It is fight or die. Learn this. 2. We must cease all dependence on the USA or its Moslem President to save Israel. 3. We must stop whinning about anti-Semitism and train ourselves, including youth to defend themselves. 4. An Israeli government that won't defend its citizens against Arab attack is not a Zionist government. When proud Jews in Israel defend themselves from Arab attack, the Israeli police, government, and justice system put them through hell. These people should not rule a Jewish State. 5. I am sick and tired of Israeli diplomats trying to win favor with ant-Semites, who will never support us. 6. I am sick and tired of American Jews refusing to take a stand to protect their fellow Jews. But have some kind of wishy, washy Ghetto mentality. They don't have to please Moslems, Leftists, socialists, communists, white and black people who do not care about the best interests of the Jewish People. And I hate those Jewish ACLU lawyers who would call me a rascist because I speak truth to lies. 7. I am sick and tired of all the delay in destroying Iran's nuclear threat. I know how difficult it is. But I am also not stupid and I know that five years ago would it have been easier. I know that the Israeli government keeps making it harder for the military to accomplish its mission. My readers on the Freemanlist know why I say this. the proliferation of missiles from North Korea, Iran, Russia, and China to Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and back to Iran. 8. And by the way the terrorists on all Israel's borders must be annihilated. We, the Jewish People did not suffer for 2000 years SHOULD NOT lose our Eretz Yisrael, because we are nice Jewish boys and girls. 9. I am sick and tired of Barak and Peres still being involved in Israeli politics. They should have been retired long ago. 10. Ok I will stop my rant. My final word. I won't puplish articles any more on the Freemanlist that DON'T GO FOR THE JUGLER. NO PUNCHES HELD BACK. In case you want a few examples (certainly not comprehensive). ISLAM, THE FALSE MASK OF RELIGION
By Emanuel A. Winston, Freeman Center Middle East Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies Auust 22, 2010 Religion, when taught and practiced with restraint and decency, is a valuable – ever irreplaceable – guide for humankind. However, when a specific religion teaches its children to hate and kill, then it cannot be defended as a religion. Then it is a “blood/death cult”, practicing child abuse on their own children. History is replete with confirmed accounts of nations and their particular religion being used as a reason for conquest, looting the victim society, forced conversion of the conquered society and, finally, mass extermination of all those who resist. Some self-anointed religions are merely pagans who worship idols and gods whom their Priest Cult interprets as the wishes of their panoply of gods. The only limitations on their practices would be the creative imaginations of their Priest Cults. Human sacrifice was common then and, strangely, it last into present time. NOTES TO BIBI
by BERNARD J. SHAPIRO Freeman Cent For Stategic Studies July 12, 2010 Please stop telling the world that you want "PEACE" (a hoax). There is no possible peace with barbarians. NOTES TO BIBI AFTER HIS FIRST ELECTION - STILL IMPORTANT An Editorial from THE MACCABEAN June 1997 A CALL TO ACTION We Must Return To Zionism By Bernard J. Shapiro In 1897 in Basle, Switzerland, Theodore Herzl founded the World Zionist Organization. There were great accomplishments in the last 100 years. Much has happened to the Jewish people who found themselves on a roller coaster with many traumatic ups and downs. The Holocaust was the lowest point and the establishment of Israel was a high point. There was the great victory of 1967 and the trauma of 1973. Zionism flourished, Israel prospered, Judea, Samaria and Gaza were settled. The Ethiopian return to Zion brought tears to our eyes with pride. The great Russian migration to Israel literally changed the country for ever. And then a cataclysmic and horrific event took place. A small clique of charlatans, with anti-Zionist delusions, took over the Israeli government in 1992. They deceived the Israeli voters by placing ("Mr. Security") Yitzhak Rabin at the head of their ticket. They promised security and then proceeded to dismantle the Jewish State. 100 years of Zionism are being undone in a few years. The new Likud government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not seem to have the political will to undo the damage of Oslo. In the past few years, it seems that the main effort of Israeli governments was the creation of a Palestinian state. The word peace was perverted and distorted, coming to mean surrender and appeasement. Continue reading "NOTES TO BIBI" Friday, July 9. 20106 MILLION WHO CANNOT SPEAK

by Emanuel A. Winston, Freeman Center Middle East Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies July 9, 2010 Now there are only a few elderly survivors of the Holocaust still alive and most won’t/cannot speak out. They know from bitter experience that when government leaders become hostile to Jews, it’s dangerous to speak out in public. When some of us speak to elderly survivors and, if they trust you, you might hear something like this: “We know that, as in Germany in the 30s, the hate is growing in the nations as they need someone to blame for their money going bad and for the lack of jobs. We see clearly that President Barack Hussein Obama has a visceral dislike, even hatred, for the Jewish people. We know from experience and instinct that President Barack Hussein Obama has grown very close to the Muslim Arab nations and wishes to please them by acting hostile to Israel. By Emanuel A. Winston, Freeman Center Middle East Analyst & Commentator Freeman Center For Strategic Studies June 28, 2010 It has been reported on TV and in U.S. DEFENSE NEWS that several U.S. Aircraft Carrier Task Forces have been sent to position themselves off the coast of Iran in the Gulf of Hormuz. I wondered: What was their mission? I also wondered about the practice take-off and landing sessions of U.S. and French aircraft on each other’s aircraft carriers. It sounds like a good idea if their likely targets are nuclear sites in Iran. BUT, what if it wasn’t? What if their alternate mission was to protect Iran from a pre-emptive or retaliatory strike by Israel on those Iranian nuclear sites? What if their plan is as Zbigniew Brzezinski counseled President Barack Hussein Obama – to shoot down Israeli aircraft in order to insure that Iran reaches full maturity in its nuclear capability?
